(Festive) Tunes to Get Grooving To
A Christmas Special!
Hi all!
It’s week ten of Tunes to Get Grooving To and I’m happy to announce that as there’s only 3 weeks left till Christmas this week is holiday themed! I have five festive tunes coming up for you so, get into your festive pyjamas, grab yourself a hot chocolate and get straight into this playlist!
1. “Lonely Christmas” – Scotty Sire (ft. Heath Hussar, Mariah Amato)
Scotty Sire has already been mentioned in TTGGT, right back in week one, and he continues to be a singer I keep coming back to, no matter what time of year! Sire is a hard-working, dedicated singer-songwriter who balances making music with also being a YouTube star. Recently, he’s toured around America and has had amazing success with it. His tunes are fun, relatable and he deserves so much more recognition.
“Lonely Christmas” was released back in December 2017 and has since hit 5.2 million views. It features other YouTube star Heath Hussar, and his talented girlfriend Mariah Amato. This upbeat Christmas tune is about breaking up during the holiday season and trying to stay together. It’s hilarious, catchy and super fun. Being a mix of pop and rap, this tune is a lot different to most traditional holiday songs. I would definitely have this on my Christmas playlist as it’s a guaranteed bop.

2. “Christmas Must Be Tonight” – Bahamas
Bahamas is the solo project of Afie Jurvanen, a Toronto-based musician. Bahamas first album was released in 2009 and it’s been a hit ever since. Jurvanen uses his soft, calm vocals and his talents with a guitar to create melodic music that instantly eases you. Bahamas is known for making soulful, chilled-out music that you can’t help but sway to. The Christmas tunes do not disappoint either.
“Christmas Must Be Tonight” is a holiday song perfect for a chill playlist. With the outstanding uniqueness that Bahamas bring to every song, this festive tune is unlike any other. It’s the calming way to celebrate Christmas, without songs screaming “IT’S CHRISTMAS!” every five minutes! It’s one to listen out for, and perhaps it’s one to have on in the evening, when everyone has calmed down and are stuffed with food!

3. “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” – Gwen Stefani (ft. Blake Shelton)
Originally Gwen Stefani was in a band called No Doubt, then in 2004 also started releasing her own music. She has been well known for many years and has gained so much popularity over the years. She’s iconic and her pop tunes continue to be songs I want on repeat! I’ve been listening to her since I was 7 years old so if you haven’t heard of her by now then you need to do your research ASAP! As for Blake Shelton, he is best known for his country music and has been releasing music since 2001. He also has become very successful, and since 2015, Shelton and Stefani have been in a relationship.
In 2017 “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” was released, and it’s one that I love hearing every Christmas now. It’s sweet to share with your loved ones and it’s also upbeat so it’s a guaranteed dance! The music video is equally as great, and it’s a perfect one for a happy Christmas.

4. “Santa Tell Me” – Ariana Grande
Ariana has a reputation for having amazing tunes for all moods and turns out she’s great at singing Christmas tunes too! Her fame has grown so much since her young days of being on Victorious, and you need to be living under a rock to not know who she is! She continues to make great pop music and her Christmas tunes don’t let her down!
“Santa Tell Me” was released four years ago and has the same pop-style of the rest of her songs, showcasing Grande’s amazing vocals. It’s upbeat and happy, telling the story in which she says “Santa tell me if you’re really there…” if she should love again in case the said other half isn’t there next year. It may sound like a depressing storyline, but the song is one to dance to. You wouldn’t even question its happiness as Ariana does a great job of making this tune exciting and lovable.

5. “Holly Jolly Christmas” – Michael Bublé
It’s not Christmas without a bit of Bublé! Starting his career in the early 2000s, I bet he didn’t think him – and his vocals – would ever be this popular! The Canadian singer has been influenced by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, these influences definitely shine through in his old-school jazz songs as well as his contemporary-pop tunes.
“Holly Jolly Christmas” is one of Bublé’s songs within his Christmas album, which he is well known for. People associate Bublé with Christmas so much that some even joke that in November he “defrosts” ready to come back out for Christmas! This tune in particular is cheerful and catchy, and it’s yet another tune on this list that you can dance to!

So that’s it for our Christmas week! I’ll be back on the 11th and the 19th of December and then I’m off for two weeks to celebrate the holiday season. After all, it’s the best time of the year!
