DJ Jazzy Jeff had coronavirus symptoms but could not get tested

Jeffrey Townes was later diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs and is now recovering

Will Smith recently announced that his former partner Jeffrey Townes, was experiencing multiple coronovirus symptoms but was unable to obtain a test to confirm the diagnosis. Jazzy Jeff has revealed that he had multiple symptoms of the Covid-19 virus. According to CNN and People the music producer had a fever of 101, loss of taste and smell and nausea. He went to the hospital where he was given a flu test and xrays revealed he had pneumonia in both of his lungs. Smith attempted to keep the mood light for his friend by teasing that he was about to replace Townes with D-Nice who is the deejay behind the virtual club nights on Instagram live. Jazzy Jeff is said to have understood this was a joke and laughed.

Jeffrey Townes said he was very sick, but rumors that he was in critical condition were false. Will Smith added that he became concerned when his friend's wife Lynette called him and he could hear the panic in her voice. He added that Lynette is usually calm so he knew something serious was going on. Townes told his former partner that he believes we are only at the beginning of the pandemic instead of the end of it as experts have been saying in recent days. He promoted social distancing on Monday through his social media, ending with "Now take yo ass in the house! #KeepYoAssInTheHouse."

Smith and Townes had their first hit in 1988 with the single and video Parents Just Don't Understand. The following year they received the first ever Best Rap Performance Grammy for the song. Townes and Smith won a second Grammy for Summertime. They performed as Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince and some people criticized their success because they were not doing hardcore rap music. From 1990 to 1996 the duo co-starred in the popular NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-air. Smith played Will who was sent from Philedelphia to live with his rich uncle and aunt in their Bel-air mansion. Townes portrayed his best friend Jazz who was always getting kicked out of the house by uncle Will's uncle Phil.

Jeffrey towns is an actor, comedian and record producer, who fell in love with being a deejay at age 10 during summer block parties. When DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince broke up, Smith and Townes remained friends, and on occasion work with each other. Everyone knows that Will Smith became a big draw at the box office with movies such as Men in Black and Independence Day. What might not be well known is that Jeffrey Townes continued to make a name for himself and became successful in his own right, He became a prominent soul, neo soul and R&B, record producer. He also set up a production company by the name of A Touch of Jazz in his native Philadelphia. Jazzy Jeff has been behind the success of artists including Floetry, Jill Scott, Eminem, Eric Roberson, Darius Rucker, Musiq Soulchild, , Raheem DeVaughn, Talib Kweli, , Rhymefest, the Roots and many others.

Townes has produced some of Will Smith's songs and and also performed some of them with his friend, such as Potnas, and So Fresh. Jazzy Jeff has also appeared in several of Smith's music videos including Freakin It and "Will2K" On several occasions, Jeffrey Townes has produced DJ scratches while appearing with Smith in live concerts. Who Knew? In 2008 the two performed together at the premiere of Smith's movie Hancock. After DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince broke up, Townes went on to become a prominent R&B, soul, and neo soul record producer, establishing the A Touch of Jazz production company in his native Philadelphia. Among the artists that Jazzy Jeff has helped develop are Talib Kweli, Eric Roberson, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Eminem, the Roots, Raheem DeVaughn, Darius Rucker, Floetry, Rhymefest, and many more. Even though he separated from Will Smith as a music partner, they are still friends, and occasionally work together.

Some songs by Smith were produced by Townes, and he has performed on some songs by Smith such as "So Fresh" and "Potnas". In addition, he appeared in several of Smith's music videos such as "Will2K" and "Freakin' It". On some occasions, he made appearances with Smith at live concerts, producing DJ scratches. On July 2, 2005, in Philedelphia, DJ Jazzy Jeff performed with Will Smith at the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia. Those who jmayh have assumed that Will Smith made it big time and left his friend behind will find they are wrong. These guys have remained good friends and continue working together. The duo performed together in 2013, on The Graham Norton Show.

During that same year, DJ Jazzy Jeff released a web series documenting his hundred plus DJ shows from all around the world. it is titled Vinyl Destination. The best buds performed two shows in August 2017, in the Europe. The Livewire Festival in Blackpool and the MTV Summerblast Music Festival in Croatia. We wish Jazzy Jeff a speedy recovery from his health issues and hope that he and Will Smith will continue their joint as well as separate collaborations. Jeffrey Townes has two sons, Cory Townes, with his wife Lynette whom he married in 201, and Amir Mitchell-Townes whose mother is Kim Mitchell.
