5 Immense Metal Title Tracks You Need To Hear

From thrash metal to symphonic metal, these are legendary!

One of my favourite things about the metal genre is the incredible range. Some songs are made for the gym; angry, pounding tracks that fill you with adrenaline. Then there's the other side, the symphonic metal where you're taken to another world altogether, with incredible storytelling and visuals to make you feel like you're lost in a fairy-tale.

Here you'll find metal bands across the spectrum, with a song for every occasion. Each of these bands have songs about love, death and everything in between, but we're going to focus on the title tracks. If you're into metal, you'll likely have heard of some of these bands, but hopefully you'll find something new to add to a playlist too.

1. Ten Thousand Fists - Disturbed

This is one of those aforementioned songs that's just made for the gym. It's a song that just oozes the feeling of power, strength and unity. On this track you can look forward to a pounding drumbeat, powerful lyrics and vocals that'll truly get the adrenaline flowing.

The entire Ten Thousand Fists album has thought-provoking lyrics, incredible instrumentals and songs that'll amp you up. You'll find tracks you can't resist adding to your playlist. There's even a Genesis cover on there! It's a metal classic, and you can find my review on the whole thing here.

2. The Scarecrow - Avantasia

A truly epic album from Avantasia!

The Scarecrow falls into that symphonic metal genre mentioned earlier. It's a track that's typical of Avantasia's storytelling and it'll take you into another world. Now, this is a brave one to include because it's over 11 minutes long. But, (and it's a huge but) it's absolutely stunning.

It starts off with incredible Celtic vibes, powerful vocals and some of the best guitar you'll hear in power metal. The instrumental break in the middle is 3 minutes long and sounds incredible. It's an awesome song to hear live, and if you like their music, I'd definitely recommend you check out a Wacken/Flying Opera video online as there's full shows available.

3. Cauterize - Tremonti

If you're looking for a band with some oomph, you've found it. This album in particular is heavy, incorporates lots of thrash metal elements and melodic vocals. The title track is absolutely stunning. The lyrics are powerful too.

You can almost feel the journey of anger leaving the body in this song. From the beginning with the thrash intro, the angry vocals leading to the solo, leading to more melodic vocals at the end of the song, with a beautiful, gentle outro. The polar opposites of the intro and outro is a little bit of magic. You can read my full review of Cauterize here.

4. Lost in Forever - Beyond the Black

This is the album art for the Tour Edition, which has 17 tracks on it!

Beyond the Black are an awesome symphonic metal band from Germany (great country for that music) headed up by lead singer Jennifer Haben.

Lost in Forever is really well constructed. The intro pounds in, with amazing drumming and a symphonic sound that really kicks the song off. Haben's voice on this is incredible, and the chorus is possibly the most catchy of all of Beyond the Black's music. There's the perfectly timed growls that add so much to the track, and there's a stunning solo.

Definitely worth giving their music a listen and categorically recommend this song!

5. Fortress - Alter Bridge

I thought I'd add Fortress to this list for Alter Bridge, as most people are aware of the beauty that is Blackbird, but I feel like this track is underappreciated.

This song is pretty heavy and depressing, but one of my favourite things about it is the solo in the middle, which is basically a guitar battle between Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti, and it's such a fun solo to cut through all the sadness of the song.

The guitar throughout is beautiful, as are the lyrics and Kennedy's vocals.

You can view my full review of Fortress here.

6. Bonus! Peace - Demon Hunter

Solid melodic album from Demon Hunter.

I felt this track deserved an honourable mention as Peace is such a departure from Demon Hunter's usual metalcore style. It's an upbeat alternative metal vibe, with awesome melodic vocals from the lead singer Ryan Clark. It's a catchy track with great little riffs throughout and solid drumming as usual from the band.

I'd recommend listening to Demon Hunter in general, there's some amazing tracks on every album. Their usual sound is very different to this album, so you might be surprised!

I reviewed Peace here.

These tracks are all amazing, and totally worth the time of day.
