Top Five Supernatural/Fantasy Shows You Should Definitely Watch
Fantasy is one of my favourite genres. It's a time-honoured genre, and some of the best shows and films of the 2000s and the 2010s have been built upon the genre. Take the hit film series based on the loved fantasy book series, The Chronicles of Narnia by bestselling author C.S. Lewis, for example. While a lot of the films were a little off the rails with the storytelling, in my book, it was the best series of fantasy films that the early 2000s had to offer. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will always be one of my favourite movies and as a big fan of the books, the acting is top-notch for a movie with basically child stars in it. And the addition of actors like Liam Neeson, Tilda Swinton and Ben Barnes to the franchise enhanced it even more. But we're not here to talk about fantasy movies, or how great the 2000s were for that genre.

Fanfiction Tips and Tricks No. 1: Characters
The best place to start when creating fanfiction is creating your character. You want them to be believable, but also a touch out of reality to allow them to be fully settled in their world. Because, chances are, your character is going to be living, breathing, and co-existing with characters from a fantasy world, be it, Marvel, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, or Vampire Diaries. And as the image shows above, nobody likes Mary Sue. A Mary Sue, according to Wikipedia, is '...a type of fictional character, usually a young woman, who is portrayed as unrealistically free of weaknesses. A male character with similar traits is coined a Marty Stu or a Gary Stu.'

The Legend of Kathleen Everton
The high vaulted ceilings and the tall archways were entirely unfamiliar to Kathleen Everton as she walked the corridors of the fortress of Relsin with the three Spirit Warriors. She'd never seen such beauty before, and a long time ago the fortress of Relsin might have been a place of stunning opulence, but those days were long gone. The four entered a room that was lit by four torches on both walls, leading straight down a small hall that had paintings and murals decorating its walls, telling the legend of the Spirit Warriors. She noticed the other three alcoves in the room, which must have held the armour and swords of the other three Evertons, were empty. So that must be the armour and swords they're wearing now, Kathleen thought as they came to a stop in the middle of the room. The four women stood in the middle of the room, seemingly waiting for something. Just then, footsteps echoed through the corridors. Kathleen put a hand warily on her sword's hilt, but Rayla noticed her movement and put a hand on her arm.

Marvel Studios' Moon Knight: Season One, Episode One
SPOILERS AHEAD!! READ AT OWN RISK I know it's been a while for all of us Marvel fans. I mean, it feels like a good long while since we got a television show on Disney+, the last one being Hawkeye, starring Jeremy Renner as the titular Clint Barton/Hawkeye and the newest young superhero to take on the mantle in a direct reference to the Marvel comics: Kate Bishop. And it's been about the same length of time since Spiderman: No Way Home, starring Tom Holland as the title hero and featuring cameos from the past iterations of Spiderman, Andrew Garfield (who I wrote about this week in my review of Tick...Tick...Boom!) and Tobey Maguire.

Tick... Tick... This Movie Is the Bomb
As the hype of the 2022 Oscars dies down, we look back over the lists of people who won fairly and those who were nominated, but it seemed like they deserved it more. One of those people ( was Andrew Garfield (most notably known for his iconic superhero role as the second iteration of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2) for his performance as the passionate, eclectic character of the real-life, late Jonathan Larson (1960-1996).

Top 5 Television Villains You Should Definitely Watch
'The villain of any story is often the most compelling character.' - John Hodgman Who doesn't love a good villain, right? If they're done right, they're perfect. They're often more engaging than the heroes, as I've found with the villains above in the Canva art I put together. If they're done poorly, they have flat motivations, such as the generic 'world domination' as I've also seen with some villains. I think we can all agree that the 'world domination' villain trope can get a little old sometimes. But sometimes, movies and TV can breathe new life into the trope, such as Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War, who had a genuine reason for wanting to erase half of the world; he just went about it the wrong way.

The Legend of Kathleen Everton
The horse trotted briskly through the endless hilly meadows outside of Moorefield, the girl on the back of the animal giving a yawn. The stirrups jingled and the saddlebags made a flapping noise against the saddle. The world was dead quiet. It had been hours since she'd first set out. Her mind went back to the few precious moments she'd had with her parents before she set off on her journey.

The Legend of Kathleen Everton
Moorefield, Arragonia. 15 years after the events of the first chapter. The two swords clashed relentlessly in the field, over and over again. The young girl and her father had been training for at least two hours, and while the sun was shining upon their training, it was not too hot. The autumn weather delivered with it a brisk chill that kept the two on their feet; kept their minds sharp as they delivered their blows. The birds were still singing, and the autumn leaves were all kinds of lovely shades: emerald greens and burnt oranges, deep reds and crisp yellows. It was the bind to her sword that knocked the girl's mind out of her reverie and her sword out of her hand. Her father, Master Robert, laughed.
