My first computer
Being from an Indian middle class family, I realized at a very young age that I always had an innate fascination with computers. I specifically remember one incident from my 2nd standard (year 2002) when my father was posted in a far off place as a part of his service in Indian Air Force. My mother asked me to write a letter to father in which after exchanging some regular pleasantries I immediately jumped to the part of demanding a computer. It took 4 years for this demand to materialize and I still remember the feeling of butterflies in my stomach when my father finally went to buy a computer. My first computer was an assembled one with modest 256 MB RAM and 80 GB hard disk. While the computer was being set up by an engineer I was unable to contain my excitement and was ready to pounce on my PC at the slightest opening to do so. But disappointment took over me when after assembling & setting it up the engineer has to take away the mouse to test it on some other device. But the curiosity got the better of me as I just saw it as a challenge and learned to operate it by pressing every key from the keyboard and few commands that we had learnt in school. This first interaction later blossomed into an unspoken but caring relationship between us. I remember the days when I got really worried when my PC got overheated due to continuously running games. So the bottom line is : I developed a very strong and emotional connection with my computer and no one told me it was weird to do so.

Erasing memories
Our mind is like an expert juggler; constantly juggling about past memories and future possibilities. Thinking about future brings optimism, hopes and aspirations of how things would be. But this package comes with its own set of uncertainty and anxiety. Past on the other hand, is a nice place to visit as it brings a sense of nostalgia, it is certainly not a nice place to stay. Because sometimes, some memory of a person or an accident leaves a scar etched in the delicate fabric of our mind and it keep scratching it over and over again. This scratching which appears harmless in the beginning can cause a significant damage to our well being as the suffering it causes repeats in our mind frequently and it gets heavier with time.

The First Time I Lied
Let’s be honest with ourselves and admit that we all are filled with imperfections and what keeps us going forward is our idea of being perfect. Every day, we strive to become a perfect version of ourselves which is not easy at all. Tables turn, unexpected things happen and we end up with failure. Now this failure is a totally strange person, that person with whom you will feel uncomfortable with. That person whom you can’t look straight into his eyes. Very few of us are gifted with the ability to deal with failures; others just become anxious and start panicking. This is where lies come in to comfort us. Lies are amazing. They bridge the gap between our imperfect reality and the perfect dream.
