Live with Jerellz
In 2019, I started hosting a streaming radio show on the Stationhead app as an ambassador. For a year, the show was all over the place, finding the sweet spot for a show time, covering various genres, and offering lots of giggles. It wasn't until January of 2020 that I focused my ideas and energy on creating a consistent show featuring independent musicians and artists on what became the "Friday Night Frequency."

A Beast in Any Language
Hey, Vocal. Meet Jantu. This Atlanta-based independent artist operates just as his name means, like a beast. Jantu has tackled the music scene with his unique sound, described as mixed a little loud - but with an audio grit that makes his sound unique. He is an artist in many ways, multi-talented, ambitious, and always on to the next venture! Over time I have enjoyed watching him evolve in the scene from an artist, producer, businessman, and more. Perhaps one of the most spectacular things about this beast is that he is ever-changing.

What Do You Say?
New York-based artist and producer, .Jxck is relatively new on the music scene. He debuted his first album in 2017, but his seasoned vocals are nothing short of an audio escape. With roots in Portland, Maine multi-instrumentalist, .Jxck brings a refreshing energy to that of the New York music landscape. A good Instagram put me on to his music a few days ago. After all, what are Instagram friends for, if not for sending good music your way? Well, thank you, Instagram fam, because this one was an absolute win.

Good Love
My latest adventure into the Canadian independent music scene, brings me to the sounds of a Calgary, Alberta based artist. I seem to find myself more and more into the music scene in Canada lately. There is so much untapped goodness, and I am grateful to have connected with a few incredible artists in Canada who show me what’s really good! I plan on sharing here quite a bit more about some of the incredible female singers and MC’s that I have connected with, but today we are talking about male singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer, Shea Michael. Today, I share a little about Shea Michael’s latest EP - Good Love and give a more in-depth listen/review to his title track. When I say this EP is a ray of sunshine, give it a listen and you’ll hear why.

Treat Me
First, if you do not know who Image is, it is time for you to do your homework. He is a soft subtle mix reminiscent of Drake with a sprinkle of Bazzi, a real voice floating smooth runs, and honest relatable lyricism. His latest release, “Treat Me,” is no deviation from this recipe, painting a picture of relationship fallout through bluesy vocals on a trap beat. Here we look not only at the song itself, but the video as well, which I was privileged to preview before its release.

What is the “Perfect Woman” made of?
When you hear the words “perfect woman” what comes to mind for you? When I think of the concept of a perfect woman, I oftentimes find myself comparing my attributes to the concept and coming up short - a phenomenon I am certain is not isolated to just me. In music, I am immediately harkened back to the year 2000 and the O-Town tune “Liquid Dreams.” I know I am showing my age here, but boy bands were so important to the commercially popular music scene then; don’t judge. In the pop track, semi-grown men list off physical attributes of celebrities they wish they could puzzle piece together to make the perfect woman or “the star of my liquid dreams.” Now that I think about it, it’s more than a little ewwwwy and yet we sang along, believed they had a good idea with this, and even compared ourselves or compared women in our lives to the chopped up idea of what a perfect woman should be.
