Natural Magic Ch. 34
Read Chapter 33 Here Matsias stared at the dream net. It didn't look much like the picture in the book, though he had tried to follow the pattern. For one thing, it was made from embroidery thread Ayan had given him, rather than the thicker cotton cord the book mentioned. But he must have gotten the knots right because the net hadn't fallen apart the way Reed had described.

Read Chapter 32 Here "For your quarter exam, you will be using wind to send a message," Mrs. Theelnin announced at the end of class, "but this will not be a paper airplane as it was the first week. This week, you will send only your words to someone." She smiled cruelly. "Think of it as a game of telephone. Only your grade depends on it. Class dismissed."

Natural Magic Ch. 32
Read Chapter 31 Here The worst part of being on the lightning ball team was the morning practice, which meant Ayan now woke before Miriam. The best part--aside from playing lightning ball--was the team captain, Wince. Wince was a Westwood boy Antony had introduced her to during one of their games, and he had agreed Ayan should try out for the team. She guessed that, like Reed, he was Vitnu because he also wore his long brown hair in a knot on the back of his head, and his clothes were entirely cotton. He had pale skin, like her won, and large ears that would have looked ridiculous on anyone else, but somehow, perfectly framed his triangular face. He was cute enough to have the heart of any girl at Faraday, though he clearly hadn't found a girl he liked as much as he liked lightning ball.Wince also welcomed her and Welway, the only other freshman on the team. After practice ended, they all headed to the cafeteria, and Wince suggested they eat breakfast together. Ayan hung back, and he tossed her that perfect smile of his. "Come on, it'll help us get to know each other better."

Natural Magic Ch. 31
Read Chapter 30 Here After a week, Miriam gave up nagging Key, especially since he was spending less time with Jo anyway. She hoped the issue had taken care of itself. He was still distance from her and the other girls, but they were also fast approaching the end of the first quarter, and they were all worried about their first round of exams. Tilli had schedules time in one of the magic practice rooms to prepare for "whatever Theelnin will throw at us," and Ayan's copy of Laura Pfieffer's travel journal was marked with so many extra pages, Miriam was surprised it closed. Key went everywhere with the trousers she had made, carefully embroidering the hems and pockets in her spare time, and Mat read. All day long.

Natural Magic Ch. 27
Read Chapter 26 here After a weekend heavy with assignments--a paper for her electrocasting class, as well as two more for history and channeling objects--Key found her workload on Nortday surprisingly small, which was nice since she was sick of studying. She didn't really want to spend time in the common, either, so she headed downstairs to catch the last few hours before curfew outside.

Natural Magic Ch. 26
Read Chapter 25 here Matsias had never been on a roller coaster, but he imagined this might be what one felt like. As his first few weeks at Faraday passed and he settled in, his days seemed to violently alternate between calm, joyful, and riddled with nightmares. When he was awake, he spent more and more time with Antony, and when the older boy wasn't around, he spent time with the girls studying or reading.

Natural Magic Ch. 25
Read Chapter 24 Here As Tilli had suspected, Matsias loved bowling, and the girls loved finally finding something they could beat him at. The experience brought them closer, but only for the time being. By Wintday, Mat had returned to skipping dinner with the girls to go to the movies with Antony and his friends. At least it wasn't another school night though. If Mat stayed up late, he wouldn't be trying to frantically study for a test at breakfast.

Natural Magic Ch. 24
Read Chapter 23 here As much as Tilli had wanted to go bowling over the weekend, Ayan's plan to work on their literature essays turned out to be a good one. Tilli had never been particularly good at writing formal papers. Miriam had little experience writing such papers, though caught on to the format easily, and Key struggled with reading and writing in general. No one was surprised that Mat had the same assignment for his Ethite literature class. Nor were they surprised when he was the first to finish. He did, however, surprise Tilli when he asked her to read it.

Natural Magic Chapter 23
Read Chapter 22 here After Mat left, the girls finished their lunch in silence. When Miriam and Ayan arrived in their history class, Mat was sitting in his usual space, his hair still down and covering his face like a curtain. Miriam sat down and opened her mouth to say something, but Ayan shook her head. She had gotten in enough fights with her brother to know the best thing to do was probably to let Mat cool down.
