'GTA V' Becomes an Unlikely Mentor for Artificial Intelligence; Will Teach Self-Driving Cars to Prevent Obstacles
Who said video games are a waste of time? Actually, nobody says that now unless it’s a disgruntled parent with an academically weak son punching joystick buttons 25 hours a day; borrowing one hour from the next day. Sorry to begin with such a weak unoriginal opening statement. But to say, Grand Theft Auto 5 of all games will lead the frontier for A.I is just another dazzling look at Terminator's Skynet. Known to the incessantly complaining & touchy world of 2016 as a violent, immature and sexually suggestive video game, the hope of self-driving cars lies in the hands of Rockstar’s flamboyant ride GTA V. For the record, I have no problems with GTA V. It is what it is. It’s not like anybody expects a deep philosophical 'Terrence Malick' style narrative game about the video game industry sucking the life outta 12 year olds and pushing materialism as the new age God. Rockstar is bloody awesome and not just for GTA series, I’m speaking about their role as a publisher of L.A Noire. Personally speaking, the making of L.A Noire is the Apocalypse Now equivalent of video games and I hope to write in detail about it someday.

Advised by Terrence Malick, Subramanian Swamy petitions ‘Beep Song’ to be heralded as the ‘Song of the Year’
Chennai & Beyond Terrence Malick is busy shooting his next untitled philosophical crap with an ensemble cast and a cinematographer who captures the surreal beauty of birds pooping from the sky whilst actors provide their career-best performance. A close aide working on the sets has revealed that Terrence Malick is a lazy guy and that he needs severe motivation to giddy up and direct. So, when a reporter pinned him down at a jazz club and asked what motivates him the most, he replied, “Right now, I believe the ethereal feel of ‘Beep song’ wakes me up in the morning and prolongs the day. It has a renaissance effect on modern love. I’ve always been interested in dissecting contemporary love- the way a soul of this age is easily flattered by looks and deceptions yet meanders around waiting for life to turn tables. I appreciate this joy although incomprehensible to my fornicating policies. This song is all about it. It is my second favorite piece of lyric next to "Fitz And The Tantrums – Out Of My League”.

Disney Was Working on an Adventure Theme Park Inspired by the 90s Video Game 'Myst'
Remember the popular fiddly trial and error 3D puzzle video game Myst created by brothers Robyn and Rand Miller. Yeah, the one that was inspired by text games like Zork and science fiction literature that involved portals like The Chronicles of Narnia and Jules Verne’s The Mysterious Island. Yes, we’re talking about the game that was one of the greatest selling titles at a time when consoles had no hard disks and technical limitations were so many. The Making of Myst is in itself a biblical relic of a by-gone video game era. Myst imparted new trends into the glossary of video games. So, it’s only apparent that Disney was hell-bent on creating a ‘Myst Island’ theme park given its popularity, critical acclaim and cult status. Creator Rand Miller appeared for an interview with The AV Club, one of my darling sites on the internet that doesn’t write just for the sake of writing and home to my favorite critic, Ignatiy Vishnevetsky.

Visaranai : A Visceral treatment on cops, the system and everybody else caught in between
The first few montages of the yet-to-dawn nocturnal life are enough to invite the film festival community to engage in the story. Visaranai is the big screen transformation of Chandra Kumar's documented novel Lock Up; a true story about how police brutality and inhuman interrogation techniques go into tormenting innocents to admit false crimes. A group of migrants from Tamil Nadu working in Andhra Pradesh are taken into illegal custody by local police . What follows is a gruesome police drill involving batons, boots and banana stems. All they want is a confession; a fake confession. 'Attakathi Dinesh' as Pandi is the stand-up guy unwilling to surrender fearing a larger force at play and more importantly, he wants to do a great many things in life. 'Aadukalam' Murugadoss as Murugan can be easily tricked, Afsal is innocent to the core and Kumar is severally battered at an early stage.

Cancelled Warcraft Game Reappears After 18 Years. You Too Can Play It Now!
If you're an ardent fan of Warcraft and as besotted as my neighbor who has been playing the series since Orcs and Humans, then you must've definitely heard about the fate of Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans, a whimsical point-and-click video game set in the Warcraft Universe that was ultimately cancelled in 1998. The story centered on Thrall, the Orc who escapes human captivity after years of being slaved and proceeds on a personal journey to discover his heritage and reunite the clans. Thrall was voiced by Clancy Brown popular for his role in Highlander and as Byron Hadley, the Captain Guard in Shawshank Redemption. He also voiced Blackhand, the antagonist warchief in the cinematic version of Warcraft, 2016. Peter Cullen gave his legendary vocals to the character of Orgrim Doomhammer. Classic British actor and baritone voice artist Tony Jay played Drek'Thar.

10 Times Batman Has Killed in Comic Books
A few days ago, I wrote a post about this exciting new independent sci-fi game about an astronaut trapped in a retro-futurist style space station with nobody else but an A.I. It will be releasing in the next two months. You need to read it if you're into games like Soma, Zork and movies like Moon and Kubrick's Space Odyssey.

Denis Villeneuve's Sci-Fi Drama 'Arrival' Is All About Amy Adams, Aliens And Linguistics
While the world awaits Denis Villeneuve's grim, smoggy futuristic version of dystopian Los Angeles in Blade Runner 2, the director made plans to accommodate another science fiction movie and now we've a 2-minute long trailer. It stars Amy Adams which is all I want to know. The teaser previously released sometime last week gave our first look at the characters played by Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker. The trailer reminds us why the word 'thriller' is synonymous with the works of Dennis Villeneuve.

A Survival Game Set in Antarctica Inspired by 'The Thing' (Atmospherically Speaking)
By the looks of the trailer, John Carpenter's cult classic (sadly overshadowed by Spielberg's E.T at the time) seems to be the obvious inspiration to the game. The developers whose previous release was The Novelist - a beautiful choice-driven dramatic game about an Ethereal's introspective into Human quality, have also agreed upon this statement in an interview.

Event[0]—Communication Is Crucial in This Cerebral Game About a Stranded Astronaut and a Skeptical AI Seeking Earth
Survival stories translated into movies, books and video games have taught us there are many ways to endure in a life altering/stagnating situation - Shut up and focus, proceed plan with the lowest possible death count/damage, use props to your advantage and elbow attacks, brainstorm & team-work, being selfish (works in certain B-grade movies) and a major leap of faith. There are more story arcs but this pretty much covers popular tactics.
