Dead Ringers; Chapter 8
I've barely reached the counter when something grabs my arm and yanks me backward. Next thing I know, I'm back in the hallway, being pinned against the wall by Detective Miles. He's pinned my arms over my head, so there's no chance of reaching my gun.

Dead Ringers; Chapter 3
I don't know what I'd thought I'd feel, but it certainly wasn't this. I want to turn away, but I can't. I'm mesmerized by the Jane Doe's eyes. Something about looking at the empty blue eyes, in a face that looks just like mine, has frozen me in place.

Dead Ringers; Chapter 5
I'm jarred awake by the screaming of my alarm. Finding the button, I hold it until the alarm shuts up. I sit up and stretch, allowing a giant yawn to escape. The fog that had followed me last night seems to have passed. Mushu joins me in bed, rubbing against my back and purring.

Ode to Rubber Ducks
Honestly, sometimes, I wish I could be a kid again. No responsibilities, no worries, no panic over the future. I missed when my biggest concern was whether or not I was going to get the toy I really wanted for my birthday. Sometimes, I really want to unpack all the childish toys I packed away because I didn't want to get rid of them so I'm keeping them for when I have kids.
