Nights in Acadia
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. The cabin was located deep within the forests of Acadia National Park near Bar Harbor, Maine. I sometimes wondered if this was the best idea or not for the two of try and figures out both our personal problems, we were having with one another. Alec and I had been through so much together, not just as a couple but we both endured a lot before we even met. In the beginning we were both very much in love but within the first year it was very rocky but, then the second year became easy but it still had its challenges. I know that sometimes its hard to heal from the past like I was having trouble coping with the loss of several of my family members over the years. But for Alec I know he felt defeated in more ways than I probably had. He went from losing his job to a near fatal death accident that could have costed him his life. I know its hard for the both of us to really talk about the things that just seem to always hold us back from going forward, but it has now gotten to a point where we had to go somewhere far away to talk it out and finally let it all out. He may not know my intentions for wanting to come out here just yet but I want us to be able to heal and grow from the past otherwise we are just going to keep letting our pasts eat at the both of us. So, I figured the cabin I inherited from my uncle in Bar Harbor was the perfect place to go but, I should have seriously checked the weather report before we left. But I was more focused on working on us then worrying about getting out of here on Monday.

The Box within the Box
I guess you could have I really have gotten myself into a world of trouble, but trouble was really putting it mildly when it felt more like a chaotic cryptic nightmare. But that wasn’t how it really all started, it actually all happened shortly after the death of my uncle. He pretty much raised me as my guardian, but he was more like a father to me. Yet during the night of his funeral had left me with a lot more questions than answers into how he really died. What turned that night where I thought I was going to cry myself to sleep turned into a night of pure mystery as a mysterious box was dropped off from a drone at 11 o’clock at night. My first thought when it arrived was that it must have been a mistake or a practical joke. But it was far from when I started to open the box and see a letter that was written from Jimmy Rhodeway who was my uncle’s best friend since high school. The letter stated “Eden! What happened to your uncle was anything far from fate or destiny and the truth that we both know now is that he was killed. But for what reason I do not know, and I was hoping you could probably help solve his murder by trying to open this box he left for you. I found it stashed underneath his desk as I was clearing out his office and there were two letters left on top. One of them was addressed to me! I guess your uncle knew I would find this somehow and he must have known I would be the one giving this box to you. Whenever you get that box opened call me right away!”

The Green Inferno
Ch.1 Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. As wails continue to be heard throughout the abyss of the galaxy as an unspeakable horror continues to escalate on the desolate planet of Amazonite. A remote planet known for its lush green but treacherous environment which was how the planet got its name. It is still a new planet discovered by earth and it has only been 10% explored due to the thick dense swampy jungles that pretty much take up the whole planet. The first set of explorers described there being possibility of large amounts of life however there are still some species that have yet to make their presence known. As well as the exotic plant life which has shown a lot of promise to possibly restoring a whole ecosystem to another planet. The reason why the plant life is so unique because the explorers discovered that the same trees and flora have been alive for over a billion years. There have been no signs of new plant evolving overtime its as if the same species is able to live on without the effects of harsh disease or large environmental changes. This is what has captivated a team of researchers that are off on a mission to Amazonite to look for a particular root plant that one of the last explorers Dr. Harry Livingston described in a journal that he wrote 50 years ago could be the key to helping restore all the plant life to another planet. Earth has taken a turn for the worse a lot of the planet green ecosystem is dying due to climate change and a lot plant disease have developed that is killing thousands of trees by the day. However, Livingston described when he came across with what he called “the Lazarus Root” was able to help heal and restore life to another plant species that was dying. It is also a tree itself and it carries a lot of spores when it blooms and blossoms can spread to other plants. When the last team explored all those years ago they were only there for a few days which seemed pretty odd it was as if they were in a big hurry to go or something had chased them off the planet.

For My Uncle
When I hear the words dad or father, I instantly think of the one and only father figure I could ever know and love in my life. That person was my uncle Tony my dads youngest brother. I still have no idea where to even begin my story with him other he was an exceptionally remarkable man who had a lot of pride and determination to always to what was right. But most importantly he also knew how to be a leader and a true model for all those that knew him including myself. Before he was married and had children of his own I unexpectedly became his first when he took me in during a time I needed him the most.
