Encounters I've had with men in my life - detailing short run-in's to those who have had long lasting effects. It's the story of getting into a Lyft at 3 am and be threatened to be thrown out on the Bay Bridge to the free Jamba smoothies.

The Christmas Sleigh (by way of a rideshare)
With a 3 day countdown until Christmas, I had hustled to get gifts at the last minute. Prone to procrastination, I was balancing working the holiday rush in the heart of San Francisco shopping, "working" at an internship, and attempting to stay awake in classes, so the idea of buying gifts in advance had never once occurred to me. This left me the night before my train home left with an armful of presents and for some unknown reason, a cake.

Pork Chop
I moved to San Francisco (actually Berkeley, across the bay, but I often joked that I was homeless in the city with a bed across the bay) when I turned 19, August of 2015, after a brief and failed stunt at a four year university in Northern California. I enrolled in the local community college and got a job at a large retailer in the heart of Union Square, Zara, which owned by #6 on Forbes' Billionaires 2020 list, was notably one of the worst places to work, some of the reasons why will be later documented but can also be highlighted by a coworker getting fired for stealing toilet paper within my first few days. Imagine where a bathroom with a constant supply of some fifty or so toilet paper rolls, could not spare but just a few rolls of that sickly single ply that would fall apart in one's hands and leave one chaffed - could that also say something about the pay, or even how they treat their employees? Regardless of the toilet paper, the pork chop incident actually occurred while waiting for a new friend, a coworker, to clock out.

To Preface
I have always had weird encounters with people in my life, which for a period of time I didn't think was odd. I collected all of these little encounters which danced around in my memories, some bringing happiness, while others, others - put simply, hurt or make me question what the hell had just happened. I didn't think these were odd encounters until I would casually mention an experience in a story, usually in jest, a way to make someone or someones laugh , sometimes as a way to sympathize with another odd experience, until people began to share that some of these weren't normal, not all bad, not all weird, and certainly some good, but all in all situations that others didn't likely find themselves in.
