The History Behind Pride Month
Pride Month is a month dedicated to uplifting LGBTQ+ voices, celebrating LGBTQ+ culture, and the support of LGBTQ+ rights. Throughout June, there have traditionally been parades, protests, drag performances, live theater, and memorials and celebrations of life for community members who lost their lives to HIV/AIDS or hate crimes. The Bill Criminalizing Medicine for Transgender Youth
On Thursday, April 7, 2022, the legislature of Alabama, in which the Republican party has a majority, approved a bill that would make it a crime for doctors to prescribe hormone blockers or hormone replacement therapy to transgender children. The sentence for this class C felony would be up to 10 years in prison.
