Cassy
I startle awake to a knock on my bedroom door. With hazy eyes I slowly sit up in bed and stare at it. There is a slight pause before the next round of light taps, almost as light as a feather. I glance at the window. The silver mist of the moon’s gleam seep through the blinds and stripes the floor. The door handle starts to jiggle. Back and forth, back and forth. My heart begins to beat faster. The door handle stops moving. A pause. Three more light taps.

The Sovereign
I do not know how l have been here. My troop and I became trapped in this cave when “The Sovereign” forces invaded our site. We managed to grab enough food and supplies to last us two months, and I’m not sure if it has been two months or close to two months, but the supplies are dwindling fast. Montgomery has claimed most of the rations. He says he has to be the one to distribute them because he is the only one who understands what the human body needs to survive, given his background in human biology. The rest of us called horseshit, but no one else has a medical background, so no one could truly pose a debate.

Golden Child
My mom had a few simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed a warm mug of coffee on a crisp Autumn morning. She loved to go outside and smell the air before it began to rain. In the Springtime, when the bees began to emerge from their hibernation, you could find my mother outside laying in the grass, letting the bees land on her arms and her nose. Most importantly, my mother loved her garden.
