The power of your words
Words are powerful. They create worlds and move masses of people to action. Words matter. Language is the most important invention that humanity has ever created, and it shapes our thoughts and actions in ways we may not even realize. The power of words can be used for good or evil; they can set people free or imprison them.

The broker
Edward The alarm sounded at exactly 6:00am and Edward Stuben climbed out of bed. He completed a few stretching exercises before heading to the bathroom for a shower. Edward then got dressed and looked in his bedroom mirror to straighten his necktie. “Today is going to be a great day!” he said to the reflection staring back at him.

The Resort
Reginald Rolle sat in a chair along the furthest wall. From a distance, he watched as people moved about with hurried anticipation. Reginald could not help but wonder what or who they were rushing to. As he began to reflect on what it was that brought him to this place, he heard the announcement. “This is a general boarding call for Tropical Air flight 221 with service to Exuma, Bahamas.” Reginald picked-up his travel bag and walked slowly to the gate. He handed his boarding pass to the agent for inspection and made his way to the aircraft sitting on the ramp.

Airplane building
One of my earliest memories as a child included taking family vacations to Florida every summer. Getting on airplanes at an early age meant an adventure was ahead. I looked forward to shopping for toys and clothes. I could not wait to eat at restaurants that were not readily accessible in my hometown. It was always a pleasure to enjoy the local theme parks with my cousins who lived in West Palm Beach, FL.

The Courier
Henry It was a warm, summer morning. Henry Cole opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling of his bedroom. After a few seconds had passed, he summoned the courage to roll onto his side and look at the clock on the nightstand. “6:03 am” it read. He had managed to get four hours of sleep. Frustrated with himself, Henry sighed and sat up on the bed. Sleep had become a rare commodity ever since he lost his job three months ago. The introduction of automated robots at the factory meant the end of his sixteen-year career. Henry had worked at the Krager Automobile Factory ever since he left high school. To become more efficient, the plant’s owners decided to modernize the assembly line and in turn, Henry, along with twenty-four of his fellow co-workers were no longer needed. The Rapid Robots Corporation had been convincing factories across the country to purchase and install their computerized machinery for the past several months.

The anti-social, social group
The recruitment In 2019, while on a visit to the city I grew up in, I ran into a former grade school classmate whom I had not seen in many years. After a quick exchange of pleasantries, phone contacts and promises to keep in touch, he informed me that our former high school classmates had a WhatsApp group. Considering I left this school after middle school, this information did not excite me. As we were about to part ways and return to our individual existences, he quickly produced his cell phone and informed me he had added me to the group; this still did not excite me.
