I Came By (2022) Movie Review
Babak Anvari’s “I Came By” is a Netflix thriller that aims high but falls short due to an excess of ideas crammed into a single runtime. Despite its shortcomings, the film does offer some interesting performances and themes that raise it above other thrillers coming out of the Netflix factory.

The Menu (2022) Movie Review
The super-rich are having a tough time at the movies recently, with filmmakers taking aim at their excesses. In "Triangle of Sadness," director Ruben Östlund made them vomit all over each other aboard a luxury yacht. Meanwhile, in "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," director Rian Johnson sends them to a private Greek island to figure out which one of them is a murderer. This week, they get skewered and grilled in "The Menu," a satirical take on the gourmet food world from director Mark Mylod.

Barbarian (2022) Movie Review
When you watch Barbarian, the first feeling you get is one of satisfaction - the satisfaction of not wasting your time on trash content. With so much bad content out there, Barbarian is a breath of fresh air, a horror film on the surface but with a tragic tale of helplessness and cruelty at its heart. Director Zach Cregger has managed to marry the tender and the visceral in his storytelling, and the performances of Georgina Campbell and Matthew Davis are quite moving.

The Green Mile (1999) Movie Review
According to Paul Edgecomb, the head of Death Row at a Louisiana penitentiary during the Great Depression, the place is similar to an intensive care ward in a hospital. Paul, played by Tom Hanks, is kinder than most guards and his team is skilled and humane, except for Percy, a cruel and ignorant guard whose aunt is married to the governor. One day, a new inmate arrives: a large black man named John Coffey, who has been convicted of molesting and murdering two young white girls. However, he is not what he seems; he is afraid of the dark and shakes Paul's hand straightforwardly as if he has nothing to hide.

Plane (2023) Movie Review
We are currently inundated with sequels, reboots, remakes, and superhero blockbusters that rely heavily on CGI, but once in a while, we're graced with an old-school action movie that takes us back to the 80s and 90s. Back then, our action heroes were the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Steven Seagal. Nowadays, we have Gerard Butler, a man so tough that he can't decide whether he's Scottish or American in his films.
