Discovering Natural Horsemanship
We had never heard of natural horsemanship when I got my first horse, Gypsy. As soon as I could, I attended a school that offered a two year equine management course. Half way through the first year, one of my instructors told me “You will never be a horse trainer – you are too soft. You need to take charge and TELL the horse what to do.” I was devastated. Training horses was a life-long dream! And I was being told I may as well give up before I start.

What is Equine Therapy
Equine therapy typically involves meeting with a professional to work through emotional distress and mental health problems. Horse therapy or hippotherapy is working through those problems with the assistance of a horse. Horses may not understand all the words we say, but they respond to the way people act and speak. And, this makes it easier for people to connect with them. Because they have the ability to mirror human emotions, they provide immediate feedback.
