What Went Wrong: No Goalie is an Island
April 28, 2023 had to be a historic day in playoff hockey. Four Game 6s took place. Four elimination games. One of them took place in Long Island, as the New York Islanders managed to stave off elimination two nights prior with a win in Game Five of their series against the Carolina Hurricanes. The road 3-2 win earned them one more chance on home ice, and it did look good for the Isles. They did score first, and that 1-0 score held up after the first 50+ minutes. However, Sebastian Aho tied it up on a crazy backhand, and overtime would see Paul Stastny squeak one past Ilya Sorokin, and that squib ended the Islanders' season.

What Went Wrong: Jets Grounded by Golden Knights in Familiar Fashion
This has to be the longest that the first round has surpassed before finally getting its very first elimination. It looked like we would see all eight Division Semifinal series go at least six games. This was the 11th day of this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the third straight to feature at least one elimination game. The New York Islanders were the first to face elimination, avoided it on Tuesday. Next up was the Florida Panthers, they avoided it on Wednesday. The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Winnipeg Jets both faced elimination tonight, and while the Bolts stayed alive for one more game, the Jets couldn't, as they were taken down easily by the Vegas Golden Knights in Game Five of the Pacific Division Semifinals.

XFL Week 10 Recap: Let the Games Begin
For the first time since the XFL's original debut in 2001, we have a completed season. The 10th and final week of the XFL season took place with a lot to decide in regards to this year's playoffs. Saturday's action began with a playoff relevant matchup between the St. Louis BattleHawks and the Orlando Guardians, with the BattleHawks looking to nab the North Division's second spot. The Hawks and the Seattle Sea Dragons were vying for that position, with one of them getting it with a win and a loss from the other team. If both teams lost, the Hawks would get in, but both teams winning would need tiebreakers to be determined.

The World Heavyweight Championship is Back!
Hours prior to Monday Night Raw's beginning, it was reported that Triple H had a huge announcement as part of the episode's synopsis. My first two thoughts: the upcoming WWE Draft was involved, and I figured/hoped that he would address the World Title situation. Sure enough, Triple H did address Roman Reigns, adding that Reigns' near 1000-day reign as WWE's Undisputed Universal Champion was mentioned, as well as the fact that he hasn't defended the title as much. After stating that the WWE and their fans deserved more than that, Triple H then mentioned the Draft--saying that in the upcoming Draft, when Reigns is drafted by either Raw or SmackDown, he'll take his title and stay there.

Villainess Review: Carolyn (Secrets on Greek Row)
I was looking forward to this film, Secrets on Greek Row, mainly because the title reminded me of the 2021 film, Secrets of Sorority Row. That film gave is a very fantastic villainess, and I figured that this one wouldn't disappoint. The film actually opened with a scene from 2007, where a businessman, Roger Lancaster, was facing some consequences, as he had sexually assaulted one of his employees, Vera Quaid. So in a moment similar to that predator doctor from The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, with the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head, Mr. Lancaster commits suicide.

XFL Week 9 Recap: Close to the Finish Line
Hard to believe that the XFL season is almost over. There hasn't been a completed XFL season since the first year all the way back in 2001, but this go-around is nearing the finish line, and it will be quite a climactic finale. Week 9 actually had a chance to complete this year's playoff field, and again, here is the XFL's playoff format. The format sees the top two teams in each division (North and South) qualify, and after the regular season ends, the division championship games commence. Home field is determined by regular season record, and of course, the winners advance to the XFL Championship, which will be played in San Antonio this year.

Reviewing Trish Stratus' Villainous Explanation on Raw
April 25, 2005. What's so significant about that date? Simple. That date was the last time that Trish Stratus appeared on Monday Night Raw as a heel--coming six days before that year's Backlash event, which was Heel Trish's last overall appearance. Trish's latest return saw her as an ally of her fellow Hall of Fame bestie Lita, as well as Becky Lynch, and the three of them even teamed together in defeating Damage CTRL. Becky and Lita were set to defend the Women's Tag Team Championship against Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan on April 10, 2023, but prior to the match, Lita found backstage, having been attacked.

Villainess Review: Fiona (9-1-1)
I've mentioned this in past reviews centering on 9-1-1 and its spinoff series, 9-1-1: Lone Star, I absolutely love that a number of their episodes have themes. For the most part, episodes operate under an anthology format, with a number of different emergencies that all have the same thing in common. One such episode that stands out is "Peer Pressure," which deals with just that; the pressures of being part of the crowd.

XFL Week 8 Recap: Playoff Bound
The numbers are starting to thin out in this XFL season, as we are closing in on the XFL's playoffs. Not only did Week 8 kick off the process of the playoff picture becoming more and more clear, we were also introduced to the format I had been waiting anxiously to see. Week 8 began with the St. Louis BattleHawks hosting the already eliminated Vegas Vipers, who were looking to play spoiler in St. Louis. It looked like they would; Vegas was up 8-0 after one, and 11-8 at the half, but the Hawks did battle back, and with 15 seconds left in regulation, Donald Hageman nailed a field goal that tied the game at 17.
