STAR WARS: FALLEN ORDER REVIEW
Star Wars has had a rough time lately. That's a shame, because it is my favorite fictional universe. Since the release of The Last Jedi, I have a 3000-word essay about my thoughts on Star Wars on my hard drive. It is a lot of which, shall we say, "critical" (read autistic screeching). These films are well worth the time. However, we also have the DICE Battlefront games which were not very well received (feelings of accomplishment anyone?). You can find out more.

A PLAGUE TALE: INNOCENCE REVIEW
It isn't surprising that I have seen the comparison. The Plague Tale: Innocence To The Last of Us The most recent God of War Because I didn't get to the end of the first and the second, and can't make any comparisons, The theme of "looking after someone little and defenseless" is the most popular trope in games these days. This allows for emotive story-telling. The joke is, they kill because you are forced to play the father figure in so many games. That You must be a good guy from the beginning.

FIREWATCH REVIEW
Dear Esther, I must admit that I enjoy a well-designed Walking Simulator. The Stanley Parable is my personal favorite and continues to be an entertaining and smart game. Too many games that fall under this category today rely too heavily on the same tricks Dear Esther used. Primarily relying on pretty graphics and a vague, "you-decide-what-it-all-means" story to try and carry themselves to critical acclaim. These things can be overly pretentious, and I find them not very interesting.

FOR THE KING REVIEW
I won't go so far as saying that I don't like roguelikes. I can name several people I have had fun with, as well as some industry darlings like FTL or Binding of Issac. I think that roguelikes are not meant for me. After dying several times, I get easily discouraged by playing the same level for the dozenth consecutive time. I am not able to make any progress. This is especially true after a particularly successful run of the game. I give up trying to make it further when that too ends in failure.

ANNO 1800 REVIEW
After a few drinks, it's a regular theme in my life that I begin to extol the glory of British Imperialism. It involves praising the virtues and redcoats of Churchill, tea and getting the cane out from the cupboard to use it on the Frenchies. We can all agree that the whole "experiment” of USA Independence has not worked out. This is why I love strategy games set in this time period, despite the fact that there are a lot of them. Empire is a decent game, but the combat lacks nuance. The sailing ship combat is so bad that it is hard to see. Meanwhile, the amazing Europa Universallis IV is so complicated that I have failed two attempts to understand it.

ALIEN: ISOLATION REVIEW
I like horror games. It might surprise you that I don't talk much about horror games. This is because I have a hard time dealing with it. I need tea breaks and pauses to let my heart beat out of the thousands. It also gives me comfort that big scary monsters are just a game.

RETURN OF THE OBRA DINN REVIEW
I don't know who I feel worst for right now: Lucas Pope or other indie devs trying to release their own hit. But you can feel for Lucas Pope, because he's now created Papers Please, Return of the Obra Dinn and both have been a huge success. All eyes now are on him to see his next project. They always say that the third album is the most difficult. Imagine what it would be like to be an independent dev these days. Your pixel sprite platforming hot take won't get you any awards or make you famous. To be successful, you must create a unique mechanism that is both simple and intuitive, but also engages the reader. Next, you will need to create a compelling story that stimulates thought and discussion. Finally, you can add graphics and animations that are unique enough to allow others to recognize the source of the still frames. Even then, you will still be compared to Lucas Pope. It's not too much to ask!

LIFE IS STRANGE 2 REVIEW
I have a strange relationship with Life is Strange. Overall, I have positive memories of the first game. This is evident in my review. While I did have my quirks, I felt that the game was largely good at its storytelling. Lamios is also enthusiastic about the game and we have had many discussions about it. It was enjoyable for me, but not as amazing as his.
