Ten NES Games You Don't Need to PlayTop Story - July 2017
Welcome back to my retro reviews. I have always loved playing Nintendo, and from its vast library of great games, there come a few crappy games. These are not games that necessarily evoke feelings of wrath or revulsion, but nonetheless, they are games you can avoid.

Contra for the NES
Gryzor! What the what?! Contra on the NES has always been one of my favorite games. I think most people will also agree that it’s at least a very fun game. You run around, you hop around, you shoot shit, and shit blows up; it’s great, but did you know that before Contra, there was Gryzor?

Dragon Warrior Monsters for the GBC
In this special retro review, I’m reviewing Dragon Warrior Monsters. This Gameboy Color game was originally released in Japan as Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry no Wonderland, and is the first video game in the Dragon Quest Monsters series. It was released in Japan by Enix on September 25, 1998, 2 years after Pokémon, and for some inexplicable reason, Dragon Warrior Monsters, and the whole Dragon Quest saga, just doesn’t seem to do as well in North America as some other games… games I consider to be lesser games, but anyway, this game was remade for the PlayStation as Dragon Quest Monsters 1+2 Hoshi Furi no Yūsha to Bokujō no Nakamatachi, but I’m just going to review the GBC version.

Crystalis for the NES
Crystalis, originally called God Slayer: Haruka Tenkū no Sonata, was released by SNK in 1990. The story begins in 1997, because that was like so far in the future waaay back then, and war engulfs the world and destroys civilization, but miraculously, someone builds a flying tower. Are you kidding?

Legend of the Ghost Lion for the NES
Known in Japan as White Lion Densetsu, and based on a movie of the same name, Ghost Lion is a really cool NES RPG. This game’s mechanics are odd in comparison to other RPGs of the time, and odd in comparison with just about any other RPGs, truthfully.

Free Writing
A simple web search for free writing reveals that it is a pre-writing technique wherein a person just sits and starts writing for a prearranged amount time. Everything is ignored—spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency, topic—it’s meant to loosen the mind grapes; it’s meant to warm up the creative muscles, and without the obstruction of self-judgment, just write.

Why Doesn't Practice Seem to Help Me Get Better at Writing?
Why doesn't practice seem to help me get better at writing? This is about the best question anyone has ever asked me. In a way, I’ve been beating around the bush throughout all of my articles regarding the art of editing as to why practicing writing doesn’t help one to write better.
