Betrayed and Reborn

A woman's strength in the face of deceit

By Rohitha LankaPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Tim divorced me just yesterday. His first love that parts before my letter already can't wait to move in with our marital home...

I look at his first love Maya in our bedroom.

She grins, ''Just pack your shit and get lost or do you want to see me and Tim being all lovey dovey?''

Only then do I hear water running in the bathroom. Tim is taking a shower.

They simply can't wait another minute.....

My heart dies. I wad up my pregnancy report into a ball.

That's it.

My thing we do not need such father....

''Kaleb, make sure the country bumpkin take nothin that ain't hers!'' Maya hands akimbo, orders.

Q- The butler grabs my bag, makes me pour out everything - it is just some clothes.

Just then, Tim shows up.

Maya slips right into his arms and rearranges the pot.

"Mia, why leave so fast? You already found a new man?''

I see the suspicion on Tim's face and play along. ''Yeah, of course.''

His glare quakes with fury, ''You've stabbed me in the back and taken my money?

I gesture at the clothes on the ground. ''I'll give those back to you, then.''

He grinds his teeth, ''I bought the clothes that you're wearing, too.''

''I see.''

Bitter smile, I start unbuttoning my shirt....

''Enough!'' His pupils shrink to points as he growls,

''Mia Bowen! Get out of here!''

I'm just about to leave when a buzzing helicopter lands not far.

The next, a parade of tall, burly bodyguards marches toward us.

They come to a full stop, right in front of me.

I really wonder what magic they perform when suddenly they bow down to me with respect,

Ms. Bowen, we're here to escort you home!''

Just in the middle of my misunderstanding, Maya's sick giggle comes from behind, ''Oh, bumpkin, I have to hand it to you, where did you get these extras to put on such a show?''

Before I talk back though.
