Virtual Reality is created with the use of computer technology.

The most recognizable component of virtual reality was the head-mounted display also called (HMD).

Virtual Reality (VR) places the user inside a computer-generated experience.

In this users don’t view a screen in front of them like on tv instead the user is immersed and able to interact with the 3D computer-generated world.

In this, as many as senses possible are provided like vision, hearing, touch, even smell.

The computer is used as a gatekeeper to enter this artificial world or environment.

The only limits to VR experiences are the lack of availability of content and cheap computing power.

Virtual reality apps provide ongoing therapy programs to veterans to confront challenges in a controlled and safe environment. This is also beneficial for behavioral therapy.

Augmented Reality transforms artificial objects into the real environment whereas Virtual Reality creates an artificial environment to inhabit.

In Virtual Reality technology, the computer uses the same sensors and math.

In virtual reality technology, the position of the user’s eyes is located within the computer-generated environment.

And the graphics react according to the user’s head turns in any direction. This technology creates a convincing, interactive environment for the user.

Major players in Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality is fun for people in universities, big labs, consumer and industrial wearables.

The future of wearables is unfolding but still unknown. There are many majors players in this technology such as HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PlayStation VR.

The HTC Vive Pro Eye, Oculus Quest, and Playstation VR are leading the market in Virtual Reality Technology but players like Google, Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and others may surprise with new levels of usability.

At the end of 2018, all the three best-selling Virtual Reality headsets were Sony’s PlayStation VR (PSVR), the HTC Vive, and Facebook’s Oculus Rift.

These all the three same HMDs had also been the best sellers in the year of 2017.

In the year 2019, we saw the Virtual Reality landscape broadening with Google, HP, Lenovo, and other virtual reality development companies looking to grab a piece of this growing market.

Oculus

Oculus was Originally funded as a Kickstarter project in 2012. Oculus was the early leader in Virtual Reality technology hardware for video games.

In 2014, Facebook bought Oculus. And brought the company’s high-end VR HMD to market it for consumers.

In recent times, Oculus has seen success because of its lower-price, lower-powered Oculus Go.

There are many Virtual Reality devices were released such as Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S, Oculus Go, and Oculus Quest in 2019.

HTC

HTC Vive is one of the best VR HMDs in the market since its release in 2016.

HTC Vive was the first VR HMD device to support SteamVR. The Vive has delivered one of the best consumer VR experiences.

It was first released in the year 2016. In the year 2018, the Vive Pro came out.

And the others such as Vive Pro Eye and the HTC Vive Cosmos are released in 2019.

Sony

Sony has the three best-selling VR HMDs. And the PSVR is tethered to the Playstation 4 gaming system which has a big advantage over the Rift and Vive. Because of the pre-existing 10 million users.

Sony’s PS4 customers didn’t have to buy or upgrade their hardware to make the PSVR compatible with it.

The PSVR is the best-selling on the market with over 4 million units since its release.
