We weren't all designed to love in the same way, and different cultures have varying preferences for physical attributes that they find attractive. Generally, we share some common preferences, such as a clear complexion, symmetrical facial features, wide hips in women, and an overall appearance of health and cleanliness. Fortunately, for those of us who don't conform to the universal standard of attractiveness, we are all wired to find different and unique things appealing. Sometimes, our loves and desires may seem a little unconventional.

Today, we delve into the world of the strangest desires and attractions that people harbor. From those who fall in love with trees to individuals with unhealthy interests in human bodily fluids, to those who enjoy dressing up like babies and being mothered for a few hours a day. We've researched the most unusual sexual desires so that you don't have to. Welcome to this episode of the Infographics Show, exploring The Weirdest Types of Paraphilia or Sexual Attractions.

So, what exactly is paraphilia? Philia is the opposite of phobia – it's something that attracts us rather than repels us. Paraphilia refers to a strong sexual attraction to a particular object, person, or subject that is considered extraordinary or unusual. The American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders defines paraphilia as "sexual urges arousing fantasies generally involving nonhuman objects, the suffering or humiliation of oneself or partner, or children or other non-consenting persons."

There are numerous terms describing paraphilias, and people can have more than one. Some individuals with strange obsessions may also exhibit other personality disorders, like substance abuse problems. We won't be able to cover all 547 terms in today's episode, but let's explore some of the more common and bizarre paraphilias.

First on the list is Frotteurism, which involves the urge to rub up against an unwilling person in public for sexual gratification. This behavior can be observed on busy commuter trains in cities and seems more prevalent in Asia than in the West. However, it's essential to distinguish this from consensual touching between two lovers on a train.

Next, we have Exhibitionism, more commonly found in Western cultures, where an individual feels compelled to remove their clothing and expose their genitals to unsuspecting people.

Moving on to attractions related to the human body, Acrotomophilia is a sexual attraction to amputees, while Apotemnophilia is the desire to have one's limb removed, which is even rarer.

For some, Macrophilia is the sexual attraction to larger people, while others experience Microphilia, an attraction to smaller individuals.

There's even Agalmatophilia, the attraction to mannequins or inanimate human-like objects.

Now, let's explore some unusual attractions related to bodily fluids and functions: Vomerophilia (vomit), Eproctophilia (farts), Haematophilia (blood), Mysophilia (soiled, dirty, or decaying materials), and Urolagnia (urine). These attractions might be hard for some to comprehend, but they do exist.

The list continues with various fetishes, where individuals find sexual gratification from objects such as fur, balloons, shoes, or even guns. Breast and genital fetishes also fall under this category. The line between a fetish and a paraphilia is thin, and some behaviors may cross over from one to the other. When a fetish becomes harmful and obsessive, it can be classified as a paraphilia.

Some paraphilias involve an attraction to crime, such as Harpaxophilia (sexual arousal from being the victim of burglary or robbery) and Hybristophilia (sexual arousal from those who have committed crimes).

The list gets darker and more disturbing with Necrophilia (sexual attraction to corpses), Necrobeastiaility (love of dead animals), Spectrophilia (sexual attraction to ghosts), and even Autassassinophilia (sexual arousal from being in life-threatening situations).

The world of paraphilias is vast, strange, and sometimes dangerous. It's important to remember that consensual and respectful relationships are the foundation of healthy human connections. It's essential to be sensitive to others' boundaries and not engage in harmful behaviors or actions that violate consent.

Remember that we all have unique "love maps" that influence our attractions to others, and what might seem unusual to one person could be deeply meaningful to another.
