The rapid pace of technological change has created an environment where innovation is happening at an accelerated rate. This year has also brought about various changes in the way technology is used, affecting the roles of IT professionals. For instance, the outbreak of COVID-19 has made it clear that the role of an IT professional will not be the same in the future. To keep up with the changes, employees will constantly be learning and relearning about these new technology trends. If you're planning on making the most of your time at home in 2023, here are some emerging technology trends that you should keep an eye on.

Smart(er) devices

Artificial intelligence is playing an important role in making our world a more efficient and effortless place. Data scientists are working on various AI-based devices that will make our lives easier, such as smart home appliances, wearables, and work tools.

Every job requires smart software applications that can make our lives easier. The rise of smart devices has made the IT industry a high-demand area. Many companies are shifting into digital spaces, which means that employees need to have a good understanding of automation and IT to succeed. Jobs that you can venture into are IT Managers, data scientists, product testers and managers, automation engineers, and IT researchers.

Datafication

The concept of datafication refers to the process of transforming everything in our lives into software or devices that are powered by data. From our smartphones to our office applications, data is becoming more prevalent, and we need to keep it safe and secure. This specialization has become an in-demand area due to the increasing amount of data that we collect.

The demand for data professionals has increased significantly, which is why it is becoming more important for individuals with a good knowledge of technology to find a job in this field. Besides being able to handle the increasing amount of data, data jobs are also more about skills than their qualifications. There are many individuals from developing countries and smaller cities who are thriving in this industry.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Despite the widespread interest in AI over the past decade, it is still in its early stages and is still considered a new technology trend. AI is already being used in various applications such as navigation apps, smartphones, and ride-sharing services.

In the future, AI will be used to analyze and improve the interactions between people and various entities, such as hospitals, in order to improve the efficiency of their operations and provide better customer experiences. It will also be able to predict the future demand for certain services by analyzing data in real time.

In 2025, the AI market is expected to grow to a value of $190 billion, and global spending on AI systems is expected to reach over $57 billion in 2023. Due to the increasing number of jobs in this field, it is becoming more prevalent in various sectors. Some of these include programming, testing, maintenance, and support.

The rapid emergence and evolution of machine learning and AI have created a huge demand for skilled individuals. According to a study conducted by Forrester, the number of jobs in the United States that will be created by automation, AI, and machine learning will increase by 9 percent in 2025. These include data scientists, content curators, and robot monitoring professionals.

The technology industry is constantly growing and changing, in turn, changing the jobs that we've grown to know. These are just a few of the biggest trends that people are looking toward in 2023.
