New errors allow hackers to reveal your photos and messages on the "iPhone"! How do you protect your personal information?

Privacy experts have identified two more bugs at Apple in the less than 10 days since the tech giant revealed other bugs plaguing iOS 16.

The latest discovery allows cybercriminals to bypass security protections and run malicious code to access users' photos and messages, as well as their address book and calendar.

There are several ways to protect your personal information from hackers lurking in the shadows, such as using only trusted apps in the App Store and not opening messages from unknown users.

Apple recently added new security vulnerabilities to its product security update page, urging users to download iOS 16.3.1 to fix the issues.

Privacy experts at V PNOverview have shared news of the vulnerabilities, CVE-2023-23520 and CVE-2023-23531, that allow attackers to bypass the cryptographic signature process and run malicious code outside of the security sandbox.

Christopher Bolfstein, of VPNOverview, said in a statement: “Apple has strict restrictions about what software can run on devices. Android, as an alternative, allows downloading of third-party apps, which is why we usually see more Android malware.” Part includes One such security measure is that all apps are 'signed' with an Apple Developer Certificate. Apps are also limited in what they can do - they are effectively kept in their sandbox."

These vulnerabilities allow cybercriminals to access calendars, addresses, photos, videos, and stored files.

It is possible for hackers to spy on users using their audio or video capabilities.

And VPNOverview shared tips on how to protect your personal information.

The tips include only using the trusted app because there are examples of it collecting more data than it should.

Do not trust unknown devices when connecting your iPhone.

And when you connect your smartphone to a computer to charge it, a notification appears on the screen and asks if the device should be trusted - always select 'Don't allow'.

VPNOverview also urges users not to click likes or open messages from unknown senders and to keep their devices updated with the latest operating system.

Previous vulnerabilities, identified earlier this month, have been added to the Homeland Security Warning List.

One problem is Webkit, the Safari browser engine that allowed bad actors to execute arbitrary code on an iPhone, and Homeland Security believes may have been exploited.

The second Kernel security flaw could allow an attacker to seize privileges, but the tech giant is unaware that this has been used.

It is not clear how long the vulnerabilities have been infecting devices.

Apple says it "does not disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has taken place and patches or versions are available."

Apple's release notes show that the iOS 16.3.1 update also includes multiple bug fixes, addressing issues with iCloud and Siri, as well as more crash detection improvements.

The initial release of iOS 16.3 was in June, which allows users to call silently using Emergency SOS and offers improved two-factor security and advanced data protection.

Canadian government bans TikTok

The Canadian government has banned TikTok from all of its phones and devices, citing data protection concerns.

The Canadian government announces a banMedia: The White House is giving government agencies a month to remove “Tik Tok” from devices and work systems

The Canadian government said in a statement that starting Tuesday, "the TikTok application will be removed from government-granted mobile devices. Users of these devices will also be prevented from downloading the application in the future."

It reported that Canada's chief communications officer "concluded that the app presents an unacceptable level of risk to privacy and security."

Last week, the European Commission banned the application on its devices, after similar steps in the United States.

For his part, a spokesman for "TikTok" was surprised by the Canadian decision to ban the application, saying that it was taken "without mentioning any specific security concerns" or consulting with the company.
