Since the start of the war between "Ukraine" & "Russia" cybersecurity professionals are on high alert for severe threats and attacks. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, U.S. officials have been on alert for potential Russian cyber-attacks. On 5th April 2022, the house homeland security committee held a hearing on how to best defend against threats. In a meeting of "CBS News" with the "Adam-Myers", who is the senior vice president of intelligence with the cybersecurity company crowd strike he testified at the hearing on 5th April 2022.

"CBS News" claims that Adam-Myers's company is tracking what you call threat actors. particularly from Russia. what kinds of cyber-attacks could these threat actors be capable of? In reply to that "Adam-Myers" said that we have been tracking them for quite some time. going back to the start of really the conflict in Ukraine in 2013, Russian threat actors have conducted operations to steal information and espionage. They have also conducted disruptive and destructive attacks. In 2015 and 2016 they turned off the power and you remember the 2017 attack which resulted in $10 billion of damages globally.

Check our list of Cybersecurity services that we offer https://bit.ly/38DoLPv "CBS News" also asked that, yesterday you said as sanctions by the U.S. and allies mount in scope and impact, the risk of targeted attacks against them becomes more acute. It makes sense, right? you look for alternatives. a two-pronged question for you, have you seen increased activity from Russian threat actors, with each round of sanctions? and, I’m wondering about sanctions directly connected to the tech industry. Could the tech industry have an impact, whether it is not providing the hardware, microchips, or blocking. For lack of a better term you know, I guess actors coming out of Russia, to other platforms. often these things are interconnected and to get one thing done you have to go through other platforms could you block anything coming out of Russia.

In reply to that, Adam-Myers said that, yeah, I think to the first part, yes, we have been observing increased interest from Russian threat actors in threatening the west in the lead up to the war in Ukraine they did conduct disruptive attacks in mid-January and hours before troop movement began in Ukraine. There was another disruptive distractive cyber-attack at the hands of Russian threat actors, and we have been observing increased reconnaissance against U.S infrastructure. The government agency put out a report about this just last week warning organizations to keep shields up. about infrastructure related to data centers, specifically.

In terms of blocking, content, and from a tax perspective, interestingly, the Russians are trying to prevent a lot of U.S based technology and social media from getting access to Russia because they are trying to control the message domestically, and it is a two-way stream in us countering misinformation, disinformation emanating from Russia and the Russians trying to counter any sort of narrative that they are not comfortable with him coming back in. We also deal with IT Infrastructure Management https://bit.ly/3O8cnXZ.

Later, a journalist from "CBS News" asked, So, if Russia shuts the door, does it mean the door has shut both ways as well?

In reply to that "Adam-Myers" said that they trying to block different services they have done over the past several years. Not just Russia, by the way, China and other countries with threats that block access to western media, western social media. So, yeah, if they shut it off you will see no contact coming out of that country. Just as you will not be able to get into that country without some sort of bypass.

Another journalist from "CBS News" asked what is crowd strike doing to get ahead of these potential cyber-attacks? In reply to that "Adam-Myers" said, so, our technology and intelligence services are managed services, all on high alert. We have been since early January, and we are working with customers to ensure that they are prepared for this, even with the white house issuing an executive order, that the government needs to step up technology a lot of organizations have not been investing in infrastructure and that was the point of the hearing on 5th April 2022. That critical infrastructure, government agencies, and generally enterprises need to do security well. They need great talent and they need to bring in advanced technologies like Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), zero trust, multifactor authentication, and to do threat hunting to engage these Russian threat actors, or whatever country they are concerned about, as soon as they get access to systems to stop them.
