Microsoft is introducing a convenient option to clear browser data in Microsoft Edge without navigating through the app's settings. This new feature is currently available in the Canary build of Microsoft Edge and is being gradually rolled out to users.

Previously, users had to search through settings to find the option to delete their browsing history, cache, cookies, and download history. However, with this new feature, clearing browser data is much faster and easier.

Soon, you will be able to access the data wiping feature directly from Edge's history hub. You can select the specific aspects of your history you want to delete, saving you an extra click. Currently, you need to open the deletion menu through the three-dot menu on the history hub. The history hub will also display additional lines, making it more convenient to browse through your history.

Twitter user Leopeva64 first highlighted this feature, along with an accompanying GIF, demonstrating how it works. However, since the rollout appears to be gradual, not all users, including myself, may have access to this feature yet. If you don't see it, you'll need to be patient as it becomes available to you. In the meantime, clearing your browsing data will require an extra click.

Microsoft is actively testing various new features in the Canary build of Edge, such as a darker Dark mode and side bar options for switching between desktop and mobile versions of websites. It's exciting to see these frequent updates and improvements, and we can expect more new features to come in the near future.

To delete your browsing data from Microsoft Edge:

Click Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services .

Click Clear browsing data > Choose what to clear.

Pick a time range and check the data types you want to delete.

Click Clear now.

You can also click Choose what to clear every time you close the browser and select the data types to delete automatically.

Browsing history and privacy settings

If you're looking to manage your browsing history and privacy settings in Microsoft Edge, here are some steps you can follow:

1. To clear your browsing history collected by Microsoft and associated with your account, sign in to your account at account.microsoft.com. You can also use the Microsoft privacy dashboard to clear the browsing data collected by Microsoft.

2. To delete your browsing history and diagnostic data on your Windows 10 device, go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & feedback. Then, select "Delete" under "Delete diagnostic data."

3. If you want to clear individual passwords stored by Microsoft Edge, open Microsoft Edge and go to Settings and more (three-dot menu) > Settings > Profiles. Then, select "Passwords." Under "Saved passwords," choose the website for which you want to clear the saved password and select "Delete."

4. To manage your privacy settings in Microsoft Edge, including tracking prevention, clearing browsing data, and more, go to Settings and more (three-dot menu) > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.

5. If you want to control website permissions for location, camera, microphone, and other features, go to Settings and more (three-dot menu) > Settings > Site permissions.

6. To manage data syncing across your devices or disable syncing entirely, go to Settings and more (three-dot menu) > Settings > Profiles > Sync.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage your browsing history, privacy settings, and synced data in Microsoft Edge. Take control of your online privacy and customize your browsing experience according to your preferences.

In conclusion, Microsoft is introducing a convenient new feature in the Canary build of Microsoft Edge that allows users to clear their browser data with ease. This feature eliminates the need to navigate through settings, making the process faster and more efficient. Although the rollout of this feature is gradual, it showcases Microsoft's commitment to enhancing user experience and providing convenient tools for managing browsing history.

With the upcoming update, users will be able to access the data wiping feature directly from Edge's history hub, selecting specific elements of their browsing history to delete. This streamlined approach saves users an extra click and simplifies the task of clearing browser data. Additionally, the history hub will be expanded, providing more lines to improve browsing convenience.

While not all users may have immediate access to this feature, Microsoft's active testing and continuous updates in the Canary build demonstrate their dedication to refining Edge's functionality. The introduction of a darker Dark mode and other sidebar options further enhances the browsing experience.

As Microsoft continues to roll out new features, users can anticipate even more improvements in the near future. Whether it's optimizing usability or expanding customization options, Microsoft Edge is poised to offer an enhanced browsing experience for its users.
