Cyber security is more important now than ever before, and that's why it's a billion-dollar industry. Legally speaking, every business has the responsibility to protect clients from hackers, data breaches, and cyber attacks. Those that do not do what they're required are often saddled with the financial burden of damage repair.

Though this internet safety responsibility could mean bad news for businesses, it means good news for the cyber security world. This means that there are more job openings for techies that want to help prevent loss and keep people safe. Here are some of the best cyber security jobs currently looking for new talent.

Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

If you are able to land one of these positions, then congratulations. You have snagged one of the best cyber security jobs that also happens to make you a C-level executive.

A CISO is the person who's in charge of making sure that all the information that people give to companies stays safe, and works to come up with ways to help prevent data breaches from harming the company. They oversee all the IT work that goes on in a company, and are in charge of security of all kinds.

A typical CISO will have a salary of around $131,000, and can make as much as $200,000 if they work for a major corporation. So, it's also one of the most lucrative cyber security jobs out there as well.

Security Architect

Right below the position of CISO, or sometimes at the same level, is the position of Security Architect. This cyber security career is all about maintaining, building, and upgrading the computer network infrastructure that the company has.

The biggest tasks that they are saddled with include making sure that the company stays secure inside, has updated software, and also has protocols in place that help employees keep their things safe.

A typical Security Architect will earn around $109,000 per year. For people who have a lot of knowledge about technology and IT architecture, this is one of the best cyber security jobs out there.

Security Manager

Many of the more well-paid jobs in cyber security and IT will make you cut off from mainstream society. This isn't the case with the role of Security Manager. These people are the ones who implement new security practices, update software, and also teach people how to keep their computers safe.

While they do need a lot of IT skills, Security Managers need to have soft skills, too. After all, they will be the ones who teach others about how to implement the protocols, be admins for budget and scheduling, and also may need to meet with Security Architects and CISOs to find out what tasks they're given for the day.

Most Security Managers will earn around $100,000 or so, and job security is high. So, it's definitely one of the best cyber security jobs for people who want stability.

Penetration Testers

This is one of the most highly demanded jobs in cyber security, and is one of the best cyber security jobs for people who are imaginative, like to play the bad guy, and are willing to think outside the box.

Penetration Testers are people who are hired to purposefully penetrate IT security measures. They find ways to exploit loopholes, then report back to hirers who then tell the people that employed them where the weaknesses in the company's system are.

By exposing weaknesses in cyber security practices and IT structures, Penetration Testers show others where to focus on improvement. And, with a take home pay between $44,000 to $110,000, it's one of the easier ways to make a lot of money in IT.

Cyber Security Engineers

Most of the jobs here couldn't happen without the people who come up with the solutions that prevent against cyber attacks — and that's the role of Cyber Security Engineers. They use a blend of skills ranging from hard IT skills to software engineering to come up with a secure framework for most companies.

They also are the ones who develop backup measures in case of a cyber attack or a data breach. In some cases, they also are the ones to confirm data breaches, virus infections, and other bad news. So, in many ways, engineers are on the front lines of the cyber security battlefield.

They make around $80,000 to $100,000 per year, and are highly respected individuals. For people who want to really test out their technical mettle, this is one of the best cyber security jobs out there.
