One of the most interesting results of advanced technology in our times is the creation of applications. Also called apps, these are basically computer software or programs designed to run on different devices such as phones or smart watches. In other words, they are the gateway to how we use technology to our benefit. The fact that they are an essential part of virtually all of our technological devices goes to show how important they are. Nonetheless, like most technological pieces, there are some drawbacks to them.

As far as apps are concerned, most of their drawbacks result in the slowing down or halt of their processing and output speed. All this means is that they don't' run as smoothly, and as efficiently as they should. This is a problem that occurs too often as a result of constant software updates, loopholes within the software itself, and other similar application issues. As we can imagine, this is a huge pain for those of us who heavily rely on apps for whatever reason that may be. However, rest assured knowing that there are some solutions to this problem. So, with all of that said, here are five ways to help your applications run smoothly.

#5: Use Anti-Virus Software

One of the most effective ways to help your applications run smoothly is by installing anti-virus software on your device. Viruses are one of the many ways that applications eventually stop working altogether. Even worse, most people don't even realize when they are installing malware on their device. That said, installing a virus will not only protect your applications, some of them even contribute to boosting their performance. In fact, this is one of the reasons anti-virus software are showing up as the applications themselves. Developers are making it easy to protect yourself.

#4: Uninstall Unused Apps

What many people may not know is that other apps themselves play a role in hurting their performance. To be more specific, running a number of apps at one time makes it difficult for other apps to run smoothly. We see this issue happen often with mobile devices, which can store many apps at once. Well, an easy fix around this issue is to uninstall any apps that are not running, or are not being used. All they are doing is taking up space and efficiency that your other applications can use.

#3: Factory Reset Your Device If Needed

Another effective way to help your applications run smoothly is to factory reset your device. A factory reset is a software restore of a device to its original system in an attempt to restore it to its original settings. Now, since this is done by erasing all of the information stored on the device, it is important to make sure that any data you want to be saved is removed beforehand. Otherwise, there is no way to get it back.

#2: Regularly Run Cleaning Swipes

Cleaning your device's software is yet another way to help your applications. Also known as swipes, what this method will do is remove any harmful or unnecessary defects that may be hindering the performance of your application. Worth noting, this is not the same as a factory reset. While both strategies give the same results, a factory reset gives a cleaner swipe at the expense of all of your device's information.

#1: Use Distributed Request Tracing

Last, but not least, a sure fire way to help your apps run smoothly is by using what is called distributed tracing. In a nutshell, this method is a way to monitor the architecture of a device as a way to locate any failures that slow your applications down. What makes this strategy different from other strategies is that it has the ability to locate a defect before it actually takes effect. Given its effectiveness, there really is no reason not to give it a try.
