Thoughts On Publishing On Vocal

Introduction

I think the statement:

"Why should I be bothered reading what YOU couldn't be bothered to write"
Someone else

and I know Vocal are having issues with DOS and trying to verify people but I saw something this morning that really got me down.

What Did I See?

I'm not going to name the creator but sometone had posted nine out of the twelve latest stories published on Vocal on various disparate subjects. To me that says AI. They were not marked as AI and I couldn;t be bothered going to check, but it seems Vocal are happy for the platform to be flooded with this dross.

I knwo that's what Vocal and many creators think of my work, but that just shows and incredible lack of culture and taste.

The thing is there are still many Vocal Creators who can't get on to publish even though they are still paying their subscriptions.

I personally thisnk that AI text should be banned from Vocal. I knwo many don'yt like me using AI Art in my stories, but the art is a requirement of a Vocal story and I use AI to ensure I am not plagiarising anyone. I am also open about it. If I was on an art rather than writing site I would not use any AI produced art. Also many of my stories use the art of artists I work with, or my own photographs.

One of the reasons I was annoyed was maybe that Ihad not written anything today, so I wrote this and that did make me feel better.

Writing and publishing on Vocal does raise my spirits.

Conclusion

At work we are told to use AI and Copilot. I tend not too unless I cannot find the answer to a question elsewhere.

I hate AI writing and AI music (which I would not notice on the radio, but it all sounds maudlin) , but am ok with art as long as it does not affect the wellbeing of artists. I knwo a few real artists who keep complementing me on my AI art work. I immediately point out that it s AI, expecting them to kill me or unfriend me, but they are still supportive and encouraging.

I knwo this has been a rant and a diatribe but thank you for reading.
