“You Look So Put together” Is Giving Me Too Much Credit
Looking composed while the rest of it is still happening

Today someone told me, “You look so put together. Like you’re so perfect in everything.”
And I was like, oh no. I’m not.
I have my flaws. I’m nosy as hell. I overthink things that probably don’t need that much thought. I get irritated over stupid stuff. Sometimes I take things personally and then realize later it had nothing to do with me. I can be stubborn. I can be impatient. I’ve made bad decisions knowing they were bad decisions.
I forget things. I avoid things. I say I’m going to bed and then somehow I’m still awake an hour later looking up something I absolutely did not need to know.
I have days when I’m confident and days when one weird comment gets in my head.
So ''put together'' is probably giving me too much credit.
I think maybe I just got better at carrying myself while all of that is still happening.
But writing all my flaws down made me laugh a little because I started with “I’m nosy as hell,” and lately I’ve realized I actually like not knowing everything.
I don’t need to know what everyone is doing. I don’t need to know why someone did what they did. I don’t need to know what everyone thinks, either.
Most of the stuff I treat like it needs my attention today won’t even be in my head next week.
And maybe I’m still nosy. I probably am. I just don’t feel the need to go looking for everything anymore.
Some things I’d rather not know.
I have enough going on over here.
