Who's ready for going back to school? Are the teachers and students really ready? Are they, or aren't they? They wait and wait for holidays and summer breaks to get away somehow. Do they really like to teach? I think they do but with everything that this profession includes, I believe, that they endure and they continue to plan what to do each year that they are a part of the noblest profession.

Teaching is a profession which is also one that includes other specialty areas from nursing to counseling to even social services. Teachers of very young and young children will also have to know basic nursing skills like first aid/nutrition as well as teaching very basic life skills. As students grow teachers will also need to know all about various learning disabilities, emotional disturbances as well as devising interesting lessons on various subjects from math to science to language and history as well as life skills. Teaching has become a multi-disciplinary profession.

So, are teachers really ready for the new school year, of course they are for teachers are not quitters. They will have their moments where they will need to express themselves in ways that are humorous as in social media and the site 'Bored Teachers' that are quite funny as long as one knows that they are just kidding around. Whatever level that the teachers are teaching they will need to keep their patience as well as keeping up with all the new ideas that one may learn from professional development meetings and webinars to keep up to date on new teaching ideas and learning how to 'teach' and deal with parents and whatever other issues that may come up during the school year.

Teaching is more than teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. It is a profession of many disciplines. It is also a profession of life and love of sharing knowledge and experiences learned and making various adaptations to what is known and not known.
