It must be asked, Paul Stewart: What’s the fascination with five? A poem limited to five lines, naming only five authors—a whopping five-part challenge that technically turned into seven parts since two parts were two-parters. (How convoluted was that explanation?)  Sheesh! This challenge cost me five times five, times five, minutes of sleep (and possibly five times more) each night! I’d do the actual math, but I’m too tired from the lack of snooze time.

I hope you know I’m just kidding. I still think the whole concept of this challenge is brilliant. And we do all so love you (insert a long series of emoji hearts here)! By the way, notice the comma's position in the title? I made sure it was in the right place for what I meant.

Okay, I guess I’ve stalled long enough in writing the final part of the challenge. But again, I say, damn, Paul Stewart! How can I possibly highlight only five authors when there are so many incredible and supportive wordsmiths and all-around incredible human beings on this platform?

Oh! Just so you know, you would've made my list if we hadn't been limited to only five. I would've told of your unique and delightful creative ability and of what a good friend you are, always so helpfully supportive. I would've said you are one of a kind, and meant it in the best way. Don't count this against me, because I'm not saying it. You aren't on the list. Just sayin'!

Sigh, perhaps I’m delaying the inevitable yet again. I’ll stop now.

So, in no particular order, here goes, with a humble apology to all those I didn't mention. Please believe that I have the utmost appreciation for each and every one of you! Damn, Paul Stewart... in this case, five isn't enough!

My list of five:

While I may not know her first name, this lady has definitely made it on my 'friend' list. She has consistently inspired me with the depth and creativity of her writing (beyond amazing), and she has been so supportive not only of me, but of many others on Vocal. I appreciate her enormously!

I adore reading the work of Mike Singleton, who is a Facebook friend and someone I consider a friend on this platform. I always look forward to reading what he writes, the lovely artwork he always adds, and the music links he includes (I've found we like much of the same, but he's introduced me to many songs I hadn't known). Many thanks to Mike for his friendship and support.

Sara Wilson is another writer (and singer and songwriter...) talented beyond measure, and is such a gem... her list of challenge wins says it all! Her words and kind support never fail to move me. I'm grateful to have met Sara.

Samurai Sam: Wild Wayne is the kind of Vocal friend you can't help but love and appreciate. The wisdom and hope he shares through his stories are poignant and uplifting, and they help soothe the soul. His dedicated support for many writers is awesome. My gratitude goes out to Samurai Sam for making such a difference!

My admiration for Alyson Smith knows no bounds. Living with a challenge that would knock many off their feet, she shares her experiences in ways that make us truly feel her words (and occasionally make us chuckle... something we all need). She is an inspiration (she made me fall in love with haiku/srenyu poetry!) and a true supporter of other authors. I value Alyson's contributions!

There. I've listed a few of my favorite people on Vocal (Note to Paul: five, to be exact. Remember, I didn't list you. LOL).
