Very Vocal Fables Volume One
It finally happened

Well, here it is folks, the inevitable has happened - I have published a book!
Very Vocal Fables Volume One is the first in a collection of three books that will feature 30 of my Vocal fables - with 10 fables per book.
You may be wondering why I have done this, or indeed why I would charge people to read works available on Vocal for free - brace yourself, because here comes the sell.
The Sell
Convenient
I hope, perhaps foolishly, that I have made a bit of a recognisable name for myself as a fable writer on Vocal. It's been about 3 years since I published my first one, and since then, I have published more fables than any other type of fiction.
That being said, I do see my earlier fables being pushed aside and drowned out by newer publications. and the hundreds of thousands of stories published in the 'Fiction' community. I do not want my fables to dissapear and, while the reader can filter my works via my author's page, I would prefer them to sit safely in one convenient offline place.
Photography
Making Very Vocal Fables has introduced me to the process of designing a book, including it's cover. I have always had a passion for photography, almost as prominent as my passion for writing. The thought of combining the two was too good to resist!
The duck and fern featured on the green cover are photographs taken at C.S. Lewis Nature Reserve in Oxford. He actually featured the pond the duck is swimming in within his first Narnia novel!

I felt it was fitting to feature not only an animal on the cover, but flora and fauna from a nature reserve next to the home of one of the most celebrated short story authors who ever lived. Short stories that featured many talking animals and morals within their pages!

Exclusive Content
The last, and perhaps most important, selling point of Very Vocal Fables Volume One are the Author's Notes. Each fable is accompanied by an exlcusive and unique author's note - nothing huge, just a few hundred words each.
They detail my thoughts, processes, and messages to the reader, offering an insight into the stories, myself, and the fables themselves as a storywriting medium.

So here it is, a convenient, pretty book packed with exclusive content! I am incredibly proud of the fables and the other content within this book, and I am so happy that I was encouraged to do this.
On that thought, I want to take a moment here to thank someone on Vocal who has encouraged me to believe that my work is good enough to publish in a physical book, and take my writing from Vocal to Kindle Direct Publishing. That person is the undoubtedly great Donna Fox! She has led me by motivation and by example (as she publishes her best works from Vocal on KDP!). Thank you Donna!
I feel a healthy KDP page could be a fundamental part of achieving a career in writing. I want to expand where my works are seen, build healthy socials, and see how far this can take me as an author.
I would be thrilled if the connections here on Vocal, reading this article, could give the book a look! It is available now on Amazon in the US, UK, and has expanded distribution in many other countries.
A/N: This has been such a labour of love, and I am so proud of this venture. I set myself a goal of selling ten copies within the month of launch. As of today, I have sold copy number 10!
I am honoured to have the encouragement, the support, and the enthusiasm behind me as I move to this new step. I want to reassure everyone on Vocal that my page will not change. I will still upload poetry, fiction, and fables to here before anywhere else!
Any feedback on the book would be greatly appreciated, reviews really help books get seen on KDP!
Also, I do not intend to flood my page on Vocal with advertisements for the books, but I will be annoucing them on here when they come out!
Also, I am in the process of reading everyone's works over the past month on Vocal as I have been unable to access the app during the free time I set aside to look at it! Don't be surprised if you see me commenting on old stories of yours and absent on your new ones! I am very keen to see what you've all been up to!
