Thoughts On Our Vocal Comments

I have written before about our commenting on Vocal here:

I was not sure whether to write this (although is true of many of the pieces I publish on Vocal.

The music is the excellent "No Comment" by Serge Gainsbourg, though you may have to brush up on your French to appreciate it fully.

So What Do I Have To Say About Vocal Comments?

This is just really short, and while it, ironically, could be a comment on another article, it is just how comments are valued on the Vocal Leaderboard.

I love it when comments expand on the original article or story, and while it is nice to get a "Wonderful", "Great Story", or an emoji, because they let you know that someone has read your story and taken the time to let you know.

Should these short comments be considered with the same value as a comment like this one?

Now that is a comment that added content to the story, and it was good to see Randy on this week's most supportive creators.

One story comments, I remember, the winner had significantly fewer comments than some of the honourable mentions. When I questioned this, I was told that the replies were counted, but replies are often at least 50% by the original author, so do they count as well?

I don't expect an answer from Vocal, but I am just putting this out as food for thought.
