The Reality of The Writing Chose Me
Huh, that’s interesting
When you say your writing chose you, it doesn't have to mean some mystical, magical calling. What it usually means in plain terms is that your brain is wired a certain way, and you can't just turn it off.
Some people can look at a situation, a person, or a memory, think "Huh, that’s interesting," and move on with their day.
But if you're a writer by nature, your brain doesn't let it go.
It processes the world by breaking it down into observations, structures, and words.
You don't sit down and consciously decide, "Today I am going to care deeply about this specific human experience." Instead, the observation hits you, it sticks to you, and the only way to get it out of your head is to write it down.
It feels like a compulsion because, frankly, it is one. It’s an involuntary reaction to the world around you.
