🔥 The Hidden Storm Behind My Smile

Unveiling the hidden storm behind a gentle smile

By Mirwais HashamiPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

They name me Golden retriever, A ray of endless sunshine, “Sweetheart” and “dear,” With laughter like music, And kindness that flows like water. But what they don’t see Beneath this polished glow Is something restless, Coiled tight beneath my skin. A golden serpent shifting, A storm trapped inside a teacup, Silent yet fierce, Ready to strike. At times I burn like the sun, Radiance spilling everywhere, Painting skies in fierce colours, Crackling with intensity. Yet manners bind me, Soft words restrain me, Social graces cage the storm, Politeness locking the beast away. But today, She pushes at the edges— A wild force Unwilling to bow To pompous men in perfect suits, Whose arrogance Is buttoned into their ties. Their pride falters, Their voices dry, As they kneel to the weight Of their own illusions. It is not weakness that binds me— My teeth ache to snap, My patience burns low. But still, I wear the mask: Gentle. Pleasant. Smiling for the world. Yet inside, The storm scratches at my ribs, Begging to be freed. And on days like this, I ache to let her out.
