Aeloris had always felt like an outsider. Among the scholars of Eldenreach, where young wizards were trained in the art of magic, he alone questioned the nature of their power. It has no will of its own. But Aeloris was not convinced. He often found himself wandering the great halls of Eldenreach late into the night, drawn by the whispers in the shadows, the pull of something just beyond the veil of understanding. One evening, that pull became impossible to ignore. The Forbidden Archive Deep beneath the citadel, past halls lined with ancient tapestries and torches that burned with an eerie blue light, lay the Forbidden Archive. No student was allowed to enter; only the High Masters had access. Rumors swirled about the knowledge hidden there—secrets of lost civilizations, spells too dangerous to wield, truths that could unravel the fabric of reality itself. Aeloris had never dared to approach the Archive before, but that night, something changed. As he wandered through the lower halls, he felt a presence. A heartbeat in the air, steady and rhythmic, calling to him. His own heartbeat quickened in response. Without thinking, he followed it, his feet moving as if guided by an unseen force. He stopped before an ancient iron door, its surface covered in runes that pulsed with a dim light. The whispers in his mind grew louder, merging into a single voice, neither welcoming nor threatening—just present. "Open the door." His fingers brushed the runes, and the door shuddered open. Inside, the chamber was unlike anything he had ever seen. The air crackled with energy. Rows of bookshelves stretched into the darkness, filled with tomes bound in leather so old it looked like petrified bark. In the center of the room, on a pedestal of black stone, lay a single book.
