Published a Poetry Book Thanks to Vocal!!

You saw correct!

My poetry is now available in a book!! I couldn't keep myself from spilling the secret during the process, but I guess reading this much poetry has strengthened me and my book is finally out!!

Here's the story!

I've been writing poetry since seventh grade, (I'm out of school at this point.)  And though I've shared it with friends and family here and there, it never interested them as much as it interested me and my poems would sit in my poetry binder where only I read them.

Besides, I never thought much of  my poems.  I'd read Billy Collin's work and Rupi Kaur's and compare it to mine and they fell short, very short. I didn't know if they had any value or anyone would have any interest in them. After all, I'm just a young girl from New Jersey, with no college education or degrees and no outlet to spread them.

But that never discouraged me from writing and every year if I studied my poems, I'd see progress.

Then one of my friends who knew I enjoyed poetry sent me a link and wrote: you gotta see this you'll love it. it's a poet's candy store!!!

How right she was!

It was Vocal.

I couldn't believe such a website exists. I could get paid for fulfilling my dream?? I started reading every article I could get my hands on and slowly warmed up to the idea of posting my own works that have been sitting lonely in my binder.

 I still had no faith in my poetry. I loved them dearly but  after all no one ever commented or critiqued them . I posted one poem, two three... not much success, but then poem #40 TOP STORY!

I felt... I have no words. My poems are so good that it made it to top story!!

Every time I'd read a top story, it wouldn't dawn on me that I can write one, it was too far reaching and now I, I!! wrote a top story.

I sat and stared at that star for hours and hours swelling with each comment and heart it collected. I went to sleep seeing thousands and thousands of stars and then with a start, something in my brain asked if you can write a top story, than why stop there?

Fast forward three months with three tops stories and here I am with a poetry book all thanks to Vocal and my loyal commenters and supporters!!

Without you, my dream of sharing my poetry with the world would never come to fruition. You infused me with motivation to continue writing and publishing and never stop believing in the power of a good word. I owe this all too you!

All the poems I published here on Vocal are just a peak at the 170+ that are in my poetry book.
