Childhood Scares Winners!
Congrats and a Happy Halloween!
I have had a very difficult few days. I've had to try and decide who would be the three winners of this challenge. I was genuinely shocked by the amount of people who entered and the fact that everyone had written something so brilliant - and also by the fact that I was going to have to decide who would win. Extra difficult, I was worried about not making my deadline but, of course, I have managed to make it to the end. Just about!
Halloween is a joyful time. I always look forward to this time during the year even though I don't actively do anything new for it. I am still my spooky self all year. I do enjoy seeing everyone else get into the spirit though and the baking flavours I can use are awesome. Autumn and winter really are the best seasons ever. To celebrate this year though, I have to say I have had some great little stories to read! So I guess that's something new (and I might do something like this next year too....👀)
Let's go through the winners then...
Childhood Scares Winners!
3rd Place
I'm not going to lie, I love this work by Kendall. It's one of those that when you see the picture, everything starts to fall into place. The writing is brilliant and almost quippy in its entry. I do hope you forgive me for making you drag this back up Kendall...!
2nd Place
This one was definitely something different to read but honestly, very relatable. I probably would have thought the exact same thing at that age, seeing a deer head on the wall. It kind of still creeps me out just thinking about it.
1st Place
A fantastic and haunting story from one of Vocal's greatest creators, I would highly recommend this one for fans of historic horror. The writing tells us the story of a young boy who has an overactive imagination. At least, we should hope it's just an overactive imagination.
BUT...
I would, if you can, still check out all of the entries for this challenge. Go through the comments and read them because only then will you understand how difficult it was for me to judge this challenge. Everyone did so damn well. I genuinely loved reading all of them!!!
Thank you for joining in,
for reading,
for commenting,
for thinking...
Have a great Halloween! 🎃
