Changing I'm Not Good Enough to I Am Good Enough

~

Pride burns within me.

It’s been a long and stressful journey.

It’s time to release the pressure

It’s time to release the guilt and shame that shrouds me like chainmail

My life stubbled over and over again

I’ve been so close to the edge so many times before,

So ready to fall

And yet after all this time,

I’ve been determined to push forward

To not give up

And not give in to the demons

Chasing after me

I’ve overcome death, several times

I’ve overcome loss, pain, and suffering.

I’ve been bleeding,

Beaten,

Broken,

I begged for an ending

I pleaded for peace

…Not Yet…

The universe smiled at me

Your journey isn’t over yet, she shared.

You have too much to live for.

I need you to live!

I tried to give up.

I tried to say it was too much to be alive.

But she believed in me.

I’ve always been the strong one,

I’ve always been the one for others to look to,

The one to listen,

To offer their shoulder for you to cry on.

And now,

I’ve made it.

August marked my birthday.

Another year,

Another goal.

Another task left uncompleted.

Not this time.

August became the cause for celebration.

August became the flag of purpose.

A despite the odds that have been stacked against me these last six months,

I survived.

I rose above it all!
