Anger Can Be Our Enemy

We do not need to address every issue

Anger Can Be Our Enemy

I read a story about an angry snake who killed himself without realizing it was his anger that was causing his demise; in reading this I came to realize how damaging our anger can truly be.

A snake entered a carpenter’s shop in search of food. Accidentally it bumped into an axe and got hurt from its blade.

Snake thought it was some other creature and started a battle. First, it bit the blade and wounded its tongue.

Out of fury and arrogance, the snake tried its best to strangle and kill the metallic axe. It wrapped the object causing it the pain.

The next day the carpenter opened the workshop. He found the dead snake wrapped around the blades of the axe.

Whose fault was this?

Conclusion:

Sometimes, when we’re upset, we try to hurt other people. But as time passes, we understand that we hurt ourselves more than others. We don’t have to respond to everything. Take a step back and consider whether it is truly worthwhile to respond to the issue.

I like this story because it shows how getting too angry can hurt us. It's a good reminder to think before reacting when we're upset.
