Rolls-Royce Motor Cars produces the mid-sized luxury coachbuilt grand tourer known as the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail. At US $28 million, it is the most expensive street-legal new automobile ever produced.

That's right, surpassing even the $13 million 2017 Rolls-Royce Sweptail, the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is now the most expensive new car in the world, with a reported price tag of $28 million. The $25.3 million Bugatti La Voiture Noire, the priciest vehicle, is still no match for the Boat Tail.

There will only be 3 Rolls-Royce boat tails made.

There will be just three Rolls-Royce Boat Tails, each for a different client. There has only been one Boat Tail disclosed thus far. The three unidentified clients contacted the business directly after seeing the Sweptail project's outcomes in 2017. The Boat Tail project took 4 years because the artists desired a piece of art that made a statement over time. In order for the customers' needs in terms of design, luxury, and culture to be satisfied, they had to invest a lot of money as well as a lot of time in joint research.

Although each of the three apartments is built on a common concept, certain of its elements are unique to the client who commissioned it. According to Rolls-Royce, the customization for each customer is completed in the time that is necessary.

The Name "Boat Tail" Originated

Rolls-Royce only produced rolling chassis in the 1920s, after which coachbuilders directly applied "the hull forms of sailing boats" to it and produced seats, body panels, and doors. Later (in the 1930s), the company hired luxury coachwork builders internally, thus Rolls-Royce handled every aspect of the work.

Elegant Interior

The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail's interior practically shouts wealth; owners will have every incentive to drive it outside to display the vehicle's grandiosity. The colour palette blends in with the exterior's two-tone paint, which also has metallic and wood accents here and there. The inside is upholstered with blemish-free leather that was sourced from the stress-free Alpine cows in the chilly Bavarian region (Germany). The blue on the front seats is darker, while the lighter blue stitching on the back seats is more dramatic. The floor, deck, and lower cabin's wood finishes mimic a ship's hull, and the entire floor structure was created to act as a resonance chamber for the vehicle's 15 speakers.

The dashboard, which is built of black Caleidolegno wood veneer, is even more opulent. The purchaser asked Rolls-Royce and BOVET 1822 (a prestigious Swiss watch brand) to work together on the disclosed Boat Tail. Two unique timepieces created by BOVET can be shown as dashboard "clocks" when mounted in the front titanium cradle of the vehicle or worn as jewellery. In order to give them a classic appearance, BOVET also added ornate Guilloche engraving to the instrument dials. A Mont Blanc pen with a distinctive design is stored in the glove compartment.

Original Rolls-Royce Parasol

In anticipation of bad weather, the majority of vintage Rolls-Royce vehicles always featured umbrellas; even contemporary Ghosts and Wraiths (without open tops) have door-stowed umbrellas that reportedly cost more than $700. The Boat Tail wasn't left behind, it has a unique parasol - a design element that's included to perpetuate the umbrella legacy. It just adds elegance to the hosting set towards the back.

Owning the first Rolls-Royce boat tail is Jay-Z and Beyonce.

The superstar couple Jay-Z and Beyonce are the proud owners of the first Rolls-Royce Boat Tail. Nevertheless, it isn't official because Rolls-Royce even declined to identify the purchasers. Strong indications, however, suggest that the rapper-turned-entrepreneur and his wife are the business's owners. First, the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail was designed with a couple in mind. Second, the couple's favourite hue is blue; their kid is even named Blue Ivy.

As if that weren't enough, there are two BOVET watches in the car and Jayz and Beyonce both love them. Another clue is that the vintage Armand de Brignac champagne is to be served in the provided 6 degree refrigerator at the prescribed temperature. JayZ owns a 50% stake in the company that produces the champagne. The pair is renowned for their love of hosting, so given that the Boat Tail offers one of the best alfresco hosting suites, they undoubtedly requested it.
