The sleek new design is set to make its debut by March 2023, marking the first update since its launch in mid-2020. While the updates may be minor in nature, sources reveal that Honda is looking to enhance the appeal of the petrol-hybrid powertrain with the introduction of a new trim and a revamp of the regular City variant. Get ready to experience the City like never before!

The facelift will likely focus on revamping the soft plastic parts, giving the City a sleek new design. Expect to see revised front and rear bumpers, as well as a new design for the alloy wheels. Honda will also be shaking things up with the variant line-up, and while the interior may not see major changes, new features such as ventilated seats and a wireless charger could be added to keep up with the competition.

Honda to Introduce More Affordable e:HEV Trim for City, Closing the Gap Between Petrol and Hybrid

Get ready for a more budget-friendly option as Honda plans to introduce a more affordable trim for the City e:HEV powertrain. Currently, the e:HEV option is only available on the fully loaded ZX trim and comes with a hefty price tag of Rs 19.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a significant difference compared to the standard City petrol's top-spec trim, which is priced at Rs 15.62 lakh (ex-showroom). With the introduction of a more affordable trim, Honda is looking to bridge the gap between the petrol and hybrid options and make the e:HEV powertrain more accessible to a wider range of customers.

New Honda City Facelift to Feature Petrol-Only Engine Options Due to Upcoming RDE Norms.

Honda is preparing to release the facelifted version of its popular City sedan, which will be offered as a petrol-only option. The company has decided to discontinue the 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine on the City due to the upcoming RDE (Real Driving Emissions) regulations set to take effect in April 2023.

As a result, buyers will have the option of choosing between the 121hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox. Additionally, there will also be the 126hp, Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain that comes with an e-CVT transmission. With the new engine options, the City facelift will meet the upcoming RDE norms while still offering a great driving experience to the customers.

New Honda City Facelift to be Priced at a Slight Premium

The Verna is also due to receive a generation change that’s set to debut in the coming months.
