Honda's new generation Civic TYPE R production version will be officially released at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, which opened on March 7 local time. It is expected that the new car's appearance and interior will be similar to the previously released Civic TYPE R Prototype (prototype), and the power will continue to be equipped with a 2.0T + 6 MT powertrain, with maximum power expected to reach 340 hp.

In terms of appearance, the previously released new generation Civic TYPE R Prototype (prototype) combines the features of the current Civic TYPE R and the tenth generation Civic two-box model. As a high-performance Honda model, the new car's front grille Honda logo and TYPE R logo on a red background naturally will not be absent. In the upper part of the front, the new car as a whole maintains the design of the ordinary Civic, with the latter's full LED headlights to continue. In addition, the hood of the new car also added a large air intake, making the new car more performance car flavor compared to the current model.

At the same time, the new front bumper has been redesigned, the lower and both sides of the air inlet size further expanded, the fog lamps on both sides of the vertical row of four small air inlets or for the tires and brake system cooling, the front bar is equipped with a carbon fiber front spoiler with red decorative lines (commonly known as the front lip), quite a sense of sport. The new 20-inch wheels are similar in style to the current model, with only the detailing of the spokes and the color scheme of the Honda logo on the center cap of the wheels being adjusted. At the same time, the Brembo Brembo brand braking system will also continue to be used.

Coming to the side, the new generation Civic TYPE R Prototype has wide front and rear wings, where the front wings meet the front doors, the new car also has an open deflector shape; the rear wheel brow has been widened, while the side surrounds maintain the red and black style.

At the rear, the new Civic has an eye-catching large double-layer spoiler based on the new generation Civic two-box model, as well as a more aerodynamic design at the top of the rear window and under the rear bumper. In addition, the mid-mounted triple exhaust port shape is inevitably reminiscent of supercars such as the Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari F40, with an explosion of combat power.

At the Montreal Motor Show, Honda showed the interior of the TYPE R Prototype for the first time. As with all generations of Civic TYPE R models in history, the new car still has a red and black interior color scheme, which is very combat-like as well as the exterior. In the picture, we see that the interior of the new Civic TYPE R prototype is not very different from the new Civic in terms of layout, LCD screen instrument panel, instrument panel, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, etc. maintaining the latter's style. But in the details, the TYPE R prototype design is to be more sporty.

Specifically, the new multi-function steering wheel uses the same three-spoke design as the new Civic regular version, the layout of the buttons and spokes are identical, but the external grip part is replaced with a flat bottom design in red and black, the Honda logo in the center of the steering wheel has also been replaced with the Honda brand performance car exclusive "red seal", more in line with the TYPE R performance car. More in line with the TYPE R's performance car positioning.

The layout of the new center console is also highly consistent with that of the regular model, with the only difference being that the silver trim on the regular model has been replaced with red, while the instrument panel running left and right has also been replaced with carbon fiber pattern material. In addition, the center touch screen, dual-zone automatic climate control, fixed-speed cruise control, one-touch start, and other features remain the same as the regular version.

The new gear knob is the same as that of the previous generation Civic Si, with a silver spherical metal knob head inherited from the eighth generation Civic TYPE R (including the three-door Japanese FD2 and two-door European FN2). On both sides behind the handlebar, the new car is also equipped with an electronic handbrake and a drive mode selector button, the latter offering a choice between "COMFORT" comfort mode and "+R" racing mode.

The seats of the new car are manufactured by the German brand RECARO, still in a red and black color scheme, and made of Antarctica and fabric. As you can see, the new seats have an exclusive TYPE R logo embroidered on the top of the seat back, and the holes on both sides provide owners with the convenience of installing four/five/six-point racing seat belts by themselves. In addition, the new car's original three-point seat belt is also made of the red material weave.

At the rear, we can see that the front seat panels are made of carbon fiber, while the rear seats are double-seated with fixed cup holders in the center. In addition, the rear seats are also wrapped in Antarctica and feature the same red stitching as the center console.

Power, the new car will follow the current model of the K20C1 type 2.0T inline four-cylinder engine, foreign media said the new car's maximum output will be increased to 340 hp and peak torque to 450 NM, while the current Civic TYPE R model has a maximum output of 310 hp and peak torque of 400 NM. The transmission system, of the new car, will continue to match the 6-speed manual transmission. As for the suspension, since the new car is based on the 10th generation Civic, its rear suspension form will also be changed from the current model's torsion beam non-independent suspension to multi-link independent suspension.
