Suggestions for breaking in a new car

The car guru summarized the advice of the car mechanic on the break-in of new cars, reminding small partners that today's cars and the cars of the year are no longer comparable.

1. The break-in period attaches importance to the maintenance

During the break-in period, we should follow the recommendations in the vehicle manual to reach the new car break-in period is generally between 2500 and 3500 km, the car speed during the break-in period is roughly controlled at about 2500 rpm. This is the basic kilometer to ensure that all parts of the machine are fully contracted, friction, and adapt to the stereotype. For the first maintenance of the car, pay attention to the inspection and maintenance of the vehicle, change the oil, oil filter, etc., and fully check the chassis system.

2. The best control of speed

The first 500 km is the initial break-in, the speed should not be too fast, generally below 70-80 km, and the speed should not exceed 2500 rpm is better.

500-1000 km is the middle of the break-in, the maximum speed can have been appropriately increased some, generally can reach 90-100 km, the speed of 3000 rpm or less on the line. Appropriate speed will not affect the engine, but can promote the break-in, and can try to speed up again when there is no abnormality.

1000-1500 km for the later break-in, the speed can be raised to less than 120 km. Break-in is a gradual process and must be accelerated gradually. The speed should not exceed 3000 rpm.

All cars are more burdened when driving at low speeds than at medium speeds, so the break-in period should not be carried out at less than 60 km/h for a long time, and must be gradually increased. In addition, after running through the break-in period at 80 km/h all the time, a sudden increase in speed will make the new car uncomfortable, so the maximum speed of the break-in period should be increased gradually.

3. Avoid frequent full load operation of the vehicle

If a new car is often fully loaded during the break-in period, it will be overloaded, which will lead to an increase in the load of the engine and transmission. Therefore, try to reduce the load within the first 500 kilometers, do not exceed 50% of the maximum load during the break-in period of 3000 kilometers, and gradually increase the load after the break-in period. There is also the brake system that is not fully broken in, the braking effect is not optimal, and also needs to reduce the load. As for automatic models, the road conditions are good when the driver needs to continue to accelerate, while paying attention to the engine speed, try not to rush the accelerator acceleration.

4. It is necessary to start warming up the car

Some people may ask: now the engine technology is more advanced than before, there is still a need to pay so much attention to warming up the car. Of course, it is necessary. This is actually to give the engine a full lubrication time because after starting the lubricant can not immediately reach the friction surface, so wait until the lubricant has reached all the parts that need lubrication (especially turbo models), to start. The time for adequate lubrication also varies depending on the temperature, the viscosity of the lubricant, and the permeability of the oil filter, so at least one minute is required to ensure that lubrication is in place. When starting, you should gently and slowly lift the clutch and accelerator pedal, and choose a good road surface to drive on.

5. Try to avoid emergency braking

Emergency braking will not only make the brake system in the break-in shock but also increase the shock load of the vehicle chassis and engine.

6. Learn to look at the state of the engine oil

In the break-in period, the engine is in the "own polishing" of the key stage, the operation of its components when the tiny metal chips will be mixed into the oil, such as not timely replacement of oil, will increase the wear and tear of the engine. Do not add any so-called "anti-wear additives" to the engine oil, otherwise, the loss will be more than offset because the main task of this period is to "polish" rather than "anti-wear". This will not only extend the break-in period, and even chemical reaction with oil additives, generating sludge or bubbles, these chemical products will reduce oil pressure, will also make poor lubrication and thus worsen the speed of wear, so do not use any additives during the break-in period.

7. Running high-speed for a long time is counterproductive

Many car owners have a misconception that the new car "pull high speed" is to drive fast, and then drive the new car to the highway a crazy run. In the break-in period, now the engine in the car for a long time continuous high load work, it is easy to cause increased wear and tear on the parts, a long time on the highway driving, for the new car engine is a high load operation.

8. Manual gears should be shifted in time

This skill is mainly for manual gearbox models. When driving a manual gearbox during the break-in period, shift gears in a timely and appropriate manner, avoid the wrong behavior of high gears and low gears and high speed and do not use a gear for a long time, except for the case of the highest gear when the car is fast.

9. Fuel quality should be ensured

Many new car owners are frugal to buy a car, to save money, we will go to some private gas stations with lower fuel prices to refuel. However, the quality of oil from these stations is not guaranteed, and the damage to the vehicle can be significant. As the saying goes, "you can afford to buy a horse to match the saddle" is the truth, but the difference is that the car will not "scream" when it is in distress, it will not pick a time and place if it wants to "go on strike". If it wants to "strike" will not pick the time and place.

10. Starting and parking are the keys

The first key point of break-in is the power system: engine (power and lubrication system), transmission system (clutch and gearbox), follow, and steering system (currently mainly power steering system). The second is the brake system: brake fluid circuit, smooth contact of brake disc and disk, smooth contact of the brake drum and brake shoes. Grinding is the process of combining various parts of the car, and it is also the process of combining people and cars. The pedal feel of the throttle, brake, and clutch are different for different models, so we should also carefully experience the stroke and strength of the pedal so that we can achieve "people and cars together" faster.
