Maruti Fronx revealed: Booking started

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the all new Maruti Fronx at the 2023 auto expo. It is a compact SUV based on Maruti Baleno. Fronx will go on sale through Maruti's Nexa showrooms from April 2023. Customers can now book the Fronx by paying a booking fee of Rs 11,000 as of today.

The Fronx shares its underlying architecture with the Baleno, utilizing the Heartect monocoque platform. While it has some exterior similarities to the Baleno, it features a more vertical front end and a headlight design reminiscent of the Grand Vitara.

The Fronx boasts updated, more substantial front and rear bumpers, each featuring simulated skid plates and small touches of chrome. It also has 17-inch alloy wheels that feature a unique design exclusive to the Fronx, not found on any other Maruti vehicles.

The Fronx takes inspiration from the Baleno hatchback, incorporating elements such as the rising waistline with a pronounced bulge over the rear wheels and a roofline that slopes downward towards the rear. In terms of size, the Fronx has similar dimensions to the Baleno, measuring 3,995mm in length, 1,550mm in height, and 1,765mm in width. On the inside, the Fronx shares many of the same components as the Baleno, including the dashboard layout, seating and equipment, which are expected to be similar to the premium Maruti hatchback. However, there will be variations in textures and colors among other details.

The Fronx comes in five different trim levels, these include Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. The SUV has a range of five single-tone and three two-tone color options to choose from, such as Arctic White, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, and Splendid Silver.

Maruti is trying to taking safety of their cars to next level with Fronx

Maruti Suzuki has been emphasizing the importance of safety for its vehicles in recent times. The company, being India's largest car maker, is determined to provide the highest level of safety for its products, and the Fronx is one of its latest models that aligns with this goal.

Maruti Suzuki's Fronx model is equipped with a range of safety features, including front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats and compliance with pedestrian protection standards. Additionally, the Fronx also includes advanced safety features such as a 360-degree parking camera, head-up display, hill hold assist, and electronic stability program.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx also includes additional safety and security features, such as three-point ELR seat belts, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, and the Suzuki Connect telematics system. Available in other NEXA offerings, the Suzuki Connect provides a range of features, including breakdown notifications, emergency alerts, stolen vehicle notification and tracking, geofencing, immobilization, safe time alerts, and many more notifications.

Recently, the Vitara Brezza received an impressive four-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests, but other offerings from Maruti Suzuki did not perform as well. With the Fronx, Maruti Suzuki aims to raise the bar for safety to a new level.

Engine options and expected price

The Fronx is a unique offering from Maruti Suzuki as it comes with two engine options, a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol Boosterjet engine and the existing 1.2-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, both of which are equipped with Maruti's mild-hybrid technology. The new turbo-petrol engine generates 100 hp and 147.6 Nm of torque, while the existing engine produces 90 hp and 113 Nm of torque.

The turbo-petrol engine in the Fronx is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The naturally-aspirated petrol engine is offered with the choice of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Fronx is expected to have a starting price of around Rs. 8 lakh
