Ferrari Portofino officially debuted in China. The new car will serve as the successor of California T and continue to compete in the V8 GT sports car market.

New car introduction.

Portofino, a small fishing village in the Italian province of Genoa, is now officially named after Ferrari's latest V8 GT sports car, which is known for its beauty. Taking on the mantle of the California T, the Ferrari Portofino is based on the unique design language of the Apennines and brings the elegant lines into further play.

The iconic Ferrari "smile" grille, together with the newly designed front bumper, makes the whole car have better aerodynamic parameters. The full-LED headlight cluster still adopts the L-shaped design and is also designed with air bridge circulation inlets on both sides, allowing the air to be exported through the front wheel arches to the side, thus making the new car gain better aerodynamic performance.

A GT-type sports car, the most beautiful side of it must be the front side view. Although the Portofino is only 4586mm long, its side lines highlight the unique Apennine design philosophy of performance first, as each waistline is designed to serve aerodynamics. The most elegant side of the Portofino is truly revealed when its mechanical hardtop is opened.

In contrast, the rear design of the new car does not have too many highlights, the taillight cluster does not return to Ferrari's traditional four-circle lamp design, but retains the LED single-circle lamp cluster, the new rear diffuser shape is more exaggerated, with a total of four bilateral exhaust system, seems to tell the world at any time its not bad strength.

The interior is not the focus of Ferrari, so the Portofino is equipped with the same steering wheel as other Ferrari models, and concentrates many functions, including lights, wipers, turn signals, ignition buttons, Bluetooth phone, and driving mode selection.

Meanwhile, at a time when full LCD gauges are starting to become popular, the Portofino, as the brand with the first sporty attribute, still has a mechanical tachometer designed in the center of the new car's dashboard, and these show his pure Leapfrog pedigree. And the LCD screens on both sides can display different contents according to the driver's needs. In addition, the new 10.2-inch display in the center console is designed with touch controls, and a new information display appears in front of the passenger side, always reminding the passenger of the current performance and some parameters of the vehicle.

The new deflector design, however, reduces the airflow in the cabin by 30 percent for the new car, resulting in better comfort as well as lower noise levels. As a GT-type sports car, a 2 + 2 style four-seat layout is essential, but it is not the focus of the design, to allow you to bring your loved ones elegantly on a long trip, but also to meet the occasional indulgence of the desire to drive is the true meaning of the GT-type sports car.

Finally, the new car will be powered by a 3.9L twin-turbo V8 engine with a maximum output of 600 hp and a peak torque of 760 NM, and the transmission system is matched with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In terms of performance, the new car's 0-100km/h acceleration time is 3.5 seconds and the top speed is greater than 320km/h.

Vehicle history.

Ferrari's products have always given people the ultimate performance track style, and like the Portofino convertible 2+2 Ferrari did not appear very early in the Ferrari family tree, compared to other V8 and V12 models, the Ferrari Mondial born in 1980 does not seem to be very famous, and in 1982 the Mondial car series officially launched Mondial Cabriolet can be regarded as the ancestor of the recent mid-mounted V8 2+2 convertible Ferrari, but the popularity and sales of this car series can never be compared with other models, coupled with Ferrari's financial problems so that the class officially ceased production in 1993 and disappeared for a full 15 years.

It was not until 2008 when Ferrari officially released the California lineup that it officially announced the return of the V8 2+2 convertible, and then as Ferrari entered the turbocharged era, California was upgraded to the California T to continue to capture the market. In 2017, along with Ferrari's 70th-anniversary celebrations kicked off, a new generation of V8 2+2 convertible - Ferrari Portofino was officially released.

Competitors.

As a product priced at around 3 million Portofino does not seem to have very direct competitors, but given its positioning, the future like the upcoming release of the Continental GT V8 convertible, Aston Martin DB11 Volante will be expected to compete with it for some of the potential users, but given the appeal of the Ferrari brand, consumers truly obsessed with this may find it difficult to consider other The Aston Martin DB11 Volante is expected to compete for some of its potential customers, but given the appeal of the Ferrari brand, it may be difficult for truly obsessed consumers to consider other products.

Editor's comment.

As its elegant name suggests, the Portofino was born to continue the market segment of Ferrari V8 GT-type sports cars, which gives potential users who are not bound to driving and have a long-distance travel plot a newer choice. How to adjust Chinese consumers' perception of Ferrari from only speed to speed and emotion, then buy a Portofino and bring your loved ones on a great trip.
