Yes, it's a bit of a cliché: a supercar and a fighter jet starting next to it. But it still doesn't stop fascinated. Especially when you build a Bugatti Chiron Sport with 1500 hp and a Rafale Marine jet with 5727 hp. And you wait to see what happens.

Why did this happen in the first place? Because the marketing of the legendary automaker. But with a result that you just want to see, although you know how it will turn out.

The main role here is played by one of the twenty produced pieces of the special edition Bugatti Chiron Sport named Les Légendes du Ciel (Heavenly Legends) for less than 90 million crowns. The French automaker is paying tribute to French aviation and former army pilots with this four-wheeled madness. Also because they included a number of successful Bugatti racing drivers. For example, the legendary French aviator Roland Garros owned a Bugatti Type 18 for one simple reason: to be as fast on the ground as it was in the air. In addition, Ettore Bugatti himself built aircraft engines around 1915 and from 1937 he worked on the development of an entire aircraft that would break the speed records of the time. But the project was stopped by the war.

The "aviation" edition of the Bugatti Chiron Sport breaks into the world of aviation through a few details. The distinguishing feature is mainly the gray paint typical for military aircraft. From the outside, the edition can be easily recognized by the blue-white-red tricolor on the front of the sills. The interior of the car is decorated with leather that resembles the natural leather used in the past in airplanes, on the doors you will find a sketch of the racing scene between the Nieuport 17 and the Bugatti Type 13, and the headrest is similarly decorated. The aluminum moldings bear the inscription Les Légendes du Ciel on the bumpers. Only twenty owners of this supercar will be able to enjoy it. Bugatti won't make more.

But back to the runway of landivisiau base. Behind the wheel of the Chiron Sport sat official Bugatti driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel, who took part in Le Mans fourteen times, finishing second twice and winning the GT category once.He has also raced in Formula 1 and in 2010 he broke the speed record for road supercars with a bugatti, driving the Veyron at 431.072 kilometres per hour.

In the cockpit of the Rafale Marine, the pride of the French Naval Air Force, Captain Etienne waited for the launch to take off. A man who has been flying this twin-engine machine for five years. He has completed more than two thousand flight hours in fighter jets and over 500 take-offs and landings on an aircraft carrier.

His machine was developed by France after leaving the Eurofighter program and entered service a decade ago. Capable of flying at speeds of up to 1975 km/h, the twin-engine aircraft excels mainly in being able to take off at short distances and also offers great maneuverability, thanks to which it can take off and land at sea.

How did both machines perform? Bugatti takes the lead soon after the start. Not to be outdone, it accelerates from 0 to 100 in 2.4 seconds, seconds, a two-hundred in 6.1, a three-hundred in 13.1 and reaches a speed of 400 kilometers per hour in 32.6 seconds. On the ground, the car leads.

The airplane next to it after 150 meters reaches a speed of 165, after 250 meters 210, and after 450 meters it takes off at a speed of about 260 kilometers per hour. Once it gets into the air, it's only a matter of moments before the Bugatti chiron Sport beats it."At first I was moving away from the plane, but after another few hundred meters it was in the air about twenty meters above me. An incredible and fantastic sight," said Pierre-Henri Raphanel, who began braking in the car after about 1.5 kilometres at over 350 kilometres per hour.

By this time, Rafale Marine had already disappeared on the horizon...
