Since the Mazda 2 has gone through a small facelift and a series of tech upgrades, this model has gained more and more popularity and recognition. But these benefits come not for nothing, but at a price. First of all, one thing we should keep in mind is that Mazda 2 is a city car, and now a rather costly one. Given that a range of its targeted city has received its mild facelift and an improvement in equipment, it will definitely receive a price hike across the range. The previously Mazda 2 price ranged from an economical $15,570 to $24,400 plus on-roads fees, while the new model pricing sees the increase from $20,990 for the Pure manual to $25,990 for the range-topping GT auto. There is no denying that the price has been increased, but, as far as I am concerned, this increase is acceptable and reasonable.

However, this kind of pricing is the norm in the small car market. In the small car segment, you can get cars like the Kia Cerato and Hyundai (Hyundai) i30 for a similar price, and this time the cars come with similar equipment. If you do not lie in the car's equipment, you can even buy a bigger car. For this Japanese brand, it needs to change its strategy and stop relying on price to win. Because it tries to reposition itself to the premium class. For a city car, $26,000 is already a lot of money. This change in strategy has given the Mazda 2 more competitors from Europe and Japan. These brands are more focused on brand prestige or performance, sometimes both. I will illustrate this point with a specific example. You can cost $26,990 to get an Abarth 595 plus on-roads, while $25,390 gets you all the Volkswagen Polo money except for the range-topping GTI.

So what dose Mazda 2 give you? Let’s find out the answer together. This mid-circle update brings some styling tweaks around the grille, front bumper and headlight treatment. Among these subtle changes, the most noticeable is the grille, which has been flattened and widened to make the Mazda 2 a little stout, certainly from the front. Pricing is also expected to remain close the current range, which kicks off at $19,290 without adding on-road costs for the base six-speed manual model, while a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic option is available across the range. Among all the model, the Mazda 2 tops the range, which is also the go-fast GTI variant, though its refreshed form is yet to be revealed.

We mentioned many of the exterior changes earlier, but these styling tweaks are secondary. The biggest change in this upgrade comes from is the MY20 Mazda2 inside and the equipment it comes with. the GT's standard equipment now includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, and advanced safety technologies such as blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keeping assistance and pedestrian detection. The latest model also has the latest version of the Low Speed City Automatic Emergency Braking system installed, which greatly improves safety. In order to provide more comfort to passengers, Mazda has also introduced newly designed seats. The newly designed seats are partially wrapped in leather, and the front bench has more space for more comfort. In addition to that, this time the new mod adds a control interface. This interface is controlled through a rotary dial on the center console. It seems to appear a little glitch, especially when first connected. But as we have experienced with the old Model in the past, it is not bad at all.
