When it comes to planning a holiday for Greece, it can be quite tricky because there are so many Greek islands to choose from. So here's a breakdown of which Greek island you should go to based on your personality and what you like to do.

If you are looking to boogie all night, drink some refreshing cocktails, and stay up until sunrise, then Mykonos is the ideal island for you. It is not a cheap holiday destination, but it most certainly is a luxurious one. Many celebrities also enjoy hanging out at Mykonos, so you might spot a few partying in the local restaurants and bars there.

Wine lover like no other

If you love drinking wine anytime of the day, and would love to do some wine tasting, then you need to visit Naxos. According to Greek mythology, this island is known as the birthing place of the Greek God Dionysus, who is the god of wine. This island is known for producing wine, and you can take a traditional wine tour too. There are also beautiful mountainous villages to explore here, as well as beaches you can relax at.

You only want to see the sea

Greece is known to have picturesque beaches, and of course great tavernas that are located next to the sea. But there is a Greek island that is connected to the mainland called Lefkada, and it has some of the bluest waters that you will ever see in your life. Porto Katsiki is a popular beach destination there; with white sand and bright blue waters, you will feel like a mermaid swimming in this sea. You can also do a group boat tour around the island and visit many beaches, as well as visit neighboring islands such as Kefalonia.

You want to spend time with family

If you're looking for a nice, relaxing holiday with your family that isn't too overcrowded or overpriced, then Paros is the Greek island that you need to visit. It is located in the Aegean Sea, which means that you can also enjoy a beach holiday there too. If you want to do a fun water activity with your children, you can explore the swimming coves there and go snorkeling. There is also a butterfly nature reserve there, and caves, which can be exciting family attractions too. Paros is known to have traditional villages and even historical landmarks dating back from the Byzantine period.

Silence and the sound of waves is all you need

Lemnos is a Greek island that has tranquil waters and picturesque villages. It is the 8th largest island in Greece. According to Greek Mythology, it is the birthplace of a Greek God of fire and volcanoes, named Hephaestus. This isn't a typical tourist destination, so you can definitely find your peace and quiet here. You can also join a pottery making class or a nice wine tour.

If you're a foodie and just want to enjoy wining and dining

Crete is a large Greek island and is famously known for its delicious Cretan cuisine. You most certainly won't be disappointed with the mouthwatering and flavorful dishes here. There will also be salads that you've probably never tried before, such as Dakos, and meat dishes that are rich and hearty, such as Tsigariatso. They also have a traditional dish that includes snails, called Kohli Boubouritsi. Crete is also known for its hard spirit called Raki, which can be enjoyed with meze dishes. This island has cute villages, breathtaking mountains and gorgeous beaches. You can also enjoy live traditional music here, and dance all night at the tavernas.
